It is possible to record from S*Y to DM7000 HD. But, some people (I am one) get problems while doing this ; if you are watching the same time as you are recording, the picture freezes a lot, which is a real pain. However, it does appear to record correctly nonetheless.

Once you have a recording on HD it is then possible to transfer this to youre PC, and then to create a DVD, etc, from it.

I often record one channel while watching another (on the same transponder) or watching another recording, or the actual recording itself (delayed viewing), I've never had any problems with hiccups or freezes on my dreambox (gemini 1.8 with newcamd 6.1 and betad). You can transfer the files to your pc afterwards (with dream vcr or the gemini manager) and watch them with mplayer (part of gemini manager or dream tv). There are other tools to convert this file to a DVD, but I've never done this, but it should be possible.

I think if you upgrade to 6.1 it still works you dont have to update the cardserver. I didnt update mine as far as i remember. Copy your image with the 5.28 and then try to update via control panel to 6.1. If it dont work just tranfer the 5.28 image back.

thanks for the suggestions john and tallguy.

i need to use 5.28 cardserver, as it enables sharing. i cant use newcs as i need gbox for our network, and use cs2gbox as a link between the cardserver and gbox

Well , you can still use newcs, and let cs2gbox log into that one....
Newcs also opens a newcamd server port , just like the org. cardserver does....

And you can then just let cs2gbox log onto that port that newcs created.

No luck here with newcamd-betad 6.05 on a gemini 2.60, dm 7020, if switching to another channel, the recorded image freezes after 40 seconds or so.

Are you sure that the second channel is on the same transponder and not just the same satellite?

Hi gsmserv
I've got a 7000S with an internal HD and I use my Sly free to view card and premium cly channels card in my box and record fine. I am using SDT latest image 5.2 and Newcamd 5.28 emu (and cardserver)
With this set-up mate you would have no probs with recordings. Depends how attached you are to the Gemini image.

I've tried pretty much all images and am a big fan of Gemini but in my opinion SDT blows it away. (note: just my opinion:p)

Let me know if you want anymore info.

PS - Don't talk to me about the grief I've had trying to get a decent set-up recording on my 500S CIFS - now thats a completely diferent story 'O'-red
