Any info or help to this question would be greatful.Just started to play with satellite equipment(analogue, echostar SR-7700.Due to restriction about size of dish and still newbie to start with motorised system.I have looked at satelite footprints and ASTRA 19.2e is best bet for me(i think).ON this there are a lot of digital stations and most use SECA2.I know that i would need a cam eg magic, joker. But the question is what receiver to get.Any input would be great help

Whereabouts in the world are you, this has a great impact on the choice and recommendations

Have you looked at the satellite lsits available from Lyngsat.com to come to the choice of satellite or the contents from the back of a magazine ?

I have only just started but have learned a lot fast!

looking at the receiver first you need one with CI slots and
a CAM without doubt. You may well get a good deal buying
it all together. I paid £150 for a Technomate 5500CI with a
further £50 for an AXAS 6 in one CAM. Great value.

Alas, if you are getting into CAMS you may also need a programmer.
I got a Digitech USB one with one card for a further £50.

We are allowed a 80cm dish in the UK and I think the law is
moving up to a 90cm one. At the very least you need a new LNB
for your existing dish. Options thereafter are multiple LNBs or
a motor. Its all cheaper and simpler than it used to be!

Good Luck

thanks for input.I did look at lygnsat for info.As for area i live in Fife scotland the dish size is down to houseing company sky dish is ok on house but will only allow 80cm in garden.went out and checked it is an 80cm dish.I already have an elvis.I was hoping i could use this for FUN 5 card to go with joker cam but joker cam only works on small list of receivers. As for updates will put a polar monut on at later date but as still newbie thought best stick with just one sateilte at the moment.

thx for input have to just keep eyes open on ebay
