How about if you have a reciever that supports 2 LNB's?
You could use the reciever H & V settings getting you Lo and Hi band from the voltage switching, then LNB 2 could be for the other polarisation.
Or you could put a switch in.

Just a thought...

That's what i did with my receivers that didn't support Wideband LNBs, i used the H/V setting for 13/18V to change freq. bands

It's a little puzzle but it does work if you set all Low band transponders as H in the list and all High band transponders as V.

This you do for each LNB.

Then i assume you also have two LNB inputs in the receiver?

LNB input A is for LNB 1

LNB input B is for LNB 2

Then you set what i described above for each LNB which means Input A is for H polarization and Input B for V polarization.

There are still a fair few C band channels transmitted with left and right hand circular polarisation.

Don't think so, no.
Do any of your recievers have 2 LNB inputs at all ??

Depends on how the softare is setup.
You would be switching tuners every time you went from vertical to horizontal. If that's not a pain for you, then yes it would work.

You would have to scan in tuner 1 with the transponder list all set to horizontal below 11700, then to vertical above to get Lo and Hi bands. Then do the same with the other one to get the 'real' other polarity.

Does that make sense ?

Yes it makes sense, pity as I was not looking to splash out on another receiver,do you have any suggestions on make of receivers?
I also have another problem, and that is there is only one cable(high quality) which is buried in conduit under the garden, when the house was built, and is run through the house in conduit.so runniing another cable is basically out of the question.
Anyway Lancelot thanks for the help,I will try to offload the SMW lnb,s.

That would allow you to switch LNB's, only problem with your setup is you would have to run a wire to the switch at the LNB end, as you only have one cable installed.
