Hi Guys

Having SNR% problems with the following channels

Premeier Sports - Day 44% snr Night 40% and less - 12633 - 22000
Setanta Sports - Day 45% snr Night 40% and less - 12633 - 22000
Setanta Ireland - Day 44% snr Night 40% and less - 12633 - 22000

other channels as a guide on my Wave T90 16 LNB setup

BBC ONE HD - 93% SNR - 10847 - 23000
ITV HD - 100% SNR - 11097 - 23000
Sky Altanic - 76% SNR - 12343 - 29500
Sky Sports One HD - 98% SNR - 11719 - 29500

based in caerphilly area, north of cardiff.

I need/want to increase the setanta and premier sports SNR%'s, can anyone in South Wales areas confirm what SNR's they are receiving and how best can I increase / fix them.

Most nights, they hardly work as they go below 40% SNR.

WaveT90 is a big dish, can't figure out why those 3 channels are low SNR, unless they are on weak TP's.

Do I need a 1M+ dish for those TP's in South Wales.

Any help and advice please

and your SNR readings (in S.Wales) would be of great help

what the....,

that means, my 28E lnb must of be knocked out by a few mms!

what are you getting for premier sports and setanta Ireland?

Those high winds a month or so could of affected that lnb and got slightly loose then!

Were your readings on the dodgy channels ok before now? I can't remember if your setup was focused on 28E or not but I doubt moving the LNB a few mm is going to make a huge difference. Their FEC is 5/6 which can be harder to lock than some of the others you mentioned which are FEC 2/3. If you are using narrow feed LNB's (again, I can't recall but think you were) you may have to change to a 'normal' feed.

HI P, not still got my titanium smart single golds on., cant figure out why those 3 channels are so low, unless they are weak.

The center is 19E lnb and 28e on the normal bar position with 19E being center (if that makes sense)!

I can't remember exact numbers before, only now they seem to go off more often!

Two things you could do to try and improve matters : If you can, move the 28E forward and back in relation to the dish focus and see if it's skew needs a tweak, or replace the 28E LNB with an Inverto Black Ultra (if it will fit)....

I have a feeling they changed the FEC on this transponder not so long since so maybe you're just noticing it now....

Thanks P,

I will start with quick tweek moves to see if that improves things. Then go from there.

Odd, since the smarts have been giving great rates on all the other birds and other channels.

What will the Ultra do? As not planned to buy any lnbs at the moment!

why is this one so good?

It's generally regarded as the most sensitive LNB, especially for fringe reception. It doesn't work brilliantly in all situations but 90% of the time it does. Out of the 16 LNB's on my set up, 5 of them are Black Ultra's.

cheers P. i think i might get a quad then. As my vu uno will be upgraded to a twin in the near future. And i need a line going to the kids room. A twin wont cover that. I guess amazon could be the best place buy cheap. unless u know the best place for uk delivery. my smart gold i take off, i will stick that on the 13e as that near centre.

A quad seems to priced quite well on there at £23.95 with free delivery. I'd try the forum's supporting advertisers as well though. Maybe one of them will do a price match....I thought the Uno could be converted to a twin tuner receiver?

(Sorry, maybe that's what you meant LOL)

HI guys,

I ended up getting a black quad high grain ultra and so far its crapp.

I need to have a good play with it on the system to maybe get it working.

So changed the lnbs from a smart gold twin to this - straight swap and the sky 1hd after a little fiddle

I get he following

before snr 100, db, 16.2, ber 0, agc 72
after snr, db 16.2, ber 0, agc 79ish - only slight improvement on the agc

but the premier what I bought it for

before snr 47, db, 7.612, ber 0, agc 59
after - Jack! - its gone - same with setanta channels - as they are on 12633 - 22000 too!

Might need to the s9 out again and redo the lnb from scratch outside as 12633 totally gone - even when I hit 100% snr on Skysports 1HD.

help - whats going on?

Just hope its not a waste of 23bucks

I'm not really sure what's happening here....I guess it's possible you have a faulty LNB...try putting the old one on and see if it restores your missing TP. My results on that TP aren't brilliant.....

Could it be the 12633 is a very weak TP, as on the smart I get 47% max!

I get 100% snr on skysports 1HD, so I guess the ultra cant be faulty.

I am about to the get the s9 out and check

results maybe little weaker, but at least I can try to get 12633 signal bars up on and have a look closely. The Vu app wont work as I get 0% snr on premier the app cuts off.

any other ideas

It's not that it's a weak TP, but that it's got a FEC of 5/6 which is making it harder to lock. No other ideas apart for the obvious of peaking up the LNB using that TP. You did try moving the Ultra in and out towards dish focus and adjusting for individual skew? As ever with a multisat it's a case of compromise, worst case scenario would possibly be moving the dish azimuth so it's more centered to 28E.....obviously that would mean moving all the LNB's as well......

so guys, what do you recommend, at the moment I have lost 12633 with the ultra?

The back of the dish reads approx 104 - thats the figure I got to lock the 19e on 0 enter originally and thats worked ok from 5w to 28e.

If i move the dish to try to center 28 closer to the middle will I lose 5W?

i better mention that I have smart gold titanium on 26e and the 28e is really close to it.
