A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

In a planetary nebula far, far away. NGC7027 about 3000 light years from here.

SOFIA is the Boeing 747(SP) run by NASA and DLR, stuffed with an 8 foot cassegrain telescope on all manner of bearings and oil sponges, allowing it to take images above the normal atmosphere at around 45000 feet. Last month scientists confirmed the elusive molecule for the first time outside the laboratory, where nothing can contain it before being dissolved.

Lt Uhura - Nichelle Nichols - flew onboard the 747 a few years back.

Just to make everybody feel old, it is 40th anniversay since Alien was in the cinemas this year, enjoy.

First time I saw Alien, then-current g/f and I arrived about 10 mins after it had started, and didn't know the plot - and then got Sh1t scared after about another 10!

I presume you're talking about the chest bursting scene. Yes, a great bit of film work. Apparently director Ridley Scott hadn't told the actors gathered around John Hurt exactly what was about to happen and the expressions of shock on their faces were all genuine.

Probably, but the "worst bits" were yet to come - especially the ones where the fully-grown Alien, with jaws dripping with "whatever", is hunting the crew members in various parts of the ship :-wow
