are you using the technomate 1500 super receiver ? as if you had the tms version then the channels would probably lock as the signal is there 63% is quite good

Why don't you remove your 1.2m dish and use your Prodelin 1.8m instead?

You have started a good thread here Rd.

Nilesat to us in the UK is like the fisherman landing the big pike!
If you take away the obvious watching tv element from our hobby its all about striving for that sat or channel you could never get or fishing for sats as I call it!

People say this hobby is dead..its far from it as long as there are sats in the sky!

Well after some 'Why are you photographing the TV again' type comments here are my 7 Deg West Nilesat 101 / 102 and Atlantic Bird 4 Horizontal reception findings from Watford , UK .

I have a 1.2 mtr Channel Master with white tech lnb and Andrews feedhorn. The dish was peaked using a spectrum analyser. Receiver is a Triple Dragon

Atlantic Bird 4 ... forget it never got a peek!

Nilesat 101/102 ... Reception of sorts on all Horizontal transponders , some better than others but the majority unbroken pictures.

The weakest transponder was 11843 H where Dream 2 TV is shown

Weather this evening is clear and cool with no wind..perfect for good reception really.

Hope this helps as a springboard to all interested in this sat , especially as Showsports have the Premier League from August!

Regards Pete

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but why is it the V transponders especially on Nilesat come in with more signal than H ones.

Am able to get a substantial number of the V transponders, some pixalated, but i've had little luck getting any H.

Impressive indeed :)

Now what was that Likvid was saying about the TD's tuner? :-rofl2

A speccy helps of course as you have a 'real time' display of the signal spectrum to fine tune it, don't have to wait for the receiver to process the signal.
Even my old analogue SA works well for this.

When I said I used a Spectrum Analyser to peak in , I meant when the dish was installed not to peak in Nilesat!
Just to clear it up!!

Difference being the Relook 400s or the Koscom would bring in the opposite polarization transponders as well with slight pixelation as RD100 used a Technomate which got a newly developed Sharp tuner which is the same in Relook and Koscom...

Probably this document below will keep you quite for a while, even Christian Mass, aka Dr.Dish have done some tests.

According to this test there is a 0.9dB difference Triple Dragon vs the "old" Relook 300s, 6.9dB vs 6.0dB

Triple Dragon is at the same level as DM7000 and the DM7000 got the worst tuners of all.
