Apologies for the quality of the pictures, they were taken using a potato/phone.

There's even a couple of dmac boxes and I think the Philips receiver has both twin sat and cable tuners built in plus a secondary external positioner for some strange reason. Pretty cool for it's time.

All boxes are for sale if anyone's interested. Just make me a offer :)

They look far worse than they are. A soft cloth and some warm water and they'll look like new.
Got a load more like mss 1000 but got bored of taking pics. Also my 200th post, yay :)

This is a D2MAC decoder - Philips FilmNet, later known as Philips BDE353.

Some nice kit there. The Monterey and LT8700 cost a very pretty penny back in the day - over £1000 and around £800 respectively.

If you wish to sell them, probably best to list them in classified section stating a price.

Might just chuck them in the bin as want to get them out of the way and they're worthless unfortunately.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

'The Monterey and LT8700 cost a very pretty penny back in the day - over £1000 and around £800 respectively'.

Only if you bought them through the 'official' channels. They were actually well under a third of the prices you quote.

Btw I still have a couple of 'really old receivers' in the shed, Among the Gensat 4/12 , Redifusion RSR50 and the Luxor stuff lies a Astrotel postioner and a really dodgy 50 ohm cable receiver supplied for satellite reception.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Careful with the Pace NTL box, s'not legal to sell them as they're owned by the cable co. which these days is Virgin Media... :-wow

Thanks guys. All the receivers are all up for grabs. Just want a few bob for wrapping them up, plus postage and I'm sure they can be your's. PM me for a contact number.

Captain, AFAIK there were two versions of the slimline Philips receiver as I had one of those as my first receiver when I was a kid. 60cm mesh bought from Comet when they sold them back in the day :)

Think it came with a shi**y marconi 9.75 lnb. Blew it up by using the long brading as an hf aerial. Then bought a gold cap from SEME. Enjoyed swinging the 60cm mesh around.

I just swung the dish about catching analogue feeds and the strong sats. Didn't have a clue about D2MAC as I was only 10 and didn't have the internet for informaton. Funnily enough already understood NICAM lol

Is the Philips BDE 353 still for sale after all these years? :) Sorry to resurrect such an old topic.

The Echostar had a UHF transmitter module available for receiving commands from a remote..erm..remote controller. I nearly procured one for my LT8700, wished I had for operating the receiver from my dish up the garden, but instead made an infrared assembly using the RC at the dish to send control signals down a spare cable pair in the dish-to-receiver cable.

I have such a remote control, together with an LT8700, upstairs somewhere. It was really quite magical being able to change channels from the next room.

Paul, if you wish to sell the LT8700, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

Still have a mint condition BDE353 decoder, in a box with the remote but I'll keep it for nostalgic reasons. Maybe a Mac encoder will turn up one day ....

It's a heavy lump of a beast due to the PSU for turning a motor. I hadn't thought of selling it - I'd better make sure that "someone" hasn't recycled it away without my knowledge first.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Chapparell Monterey - sort of lusted after one decades ago but really could not justify the ginormous price (having spent megabucks on an earlier NEC 5000 system). What we can get now for relative peanuts is a total contrast!

Yep, were amazing receivers, was given one by a customer when Sky Digital launched, ended up taking it down to the tip and the rf remote went to a fellow member of the forum. :)

They (kind of) brought it up to date for DVB-S adding a motherboard from an RSD ODM300 digital receiver, placed underneath the main unit.
Still have my Scottish- made ODM300, a very early entrant to the world of DVB.
