Have got another toy for the garage. This one has speed adjustment knob. Will need now to redo the resting place for angle-grinders to accommodate all of them.

Just picked up the Lidl flyer for the period from Thrs 24th onwards - some useful stuff in there but not yet on their website, such as
- Parkside 12V Cordless Angle Grinder for £29.99, with spare 76mm discs available too - from searching elsewhere,it looks to be the PWSA 12Li A-1 (or later version?) which sells for about £50 on ebay,. Not yet tracked down the actual German supplier, but can't find it on the grizzly-shop.de, kompenass or sheppach sites - so it's maybe some other supplier. Might buy one if I can find spare batteries.
- Set of 7 Diamond Warding Files - £2.99
- Various Magnetic tool trays and related tools for £3.49 each
- O/E and off-set ring spanner sets for £4.99
- Precision Screwdriver set (7 piece with magnifier, or 13 piece but no magnifier) for £3.99 - these look to be the sort where you can rotate the body & bit with your fingers whilst holding the butt in the palm of your hand; I have one very useful similar set and might well get some more.

OH, and something for a nice afternoon/evening out after you finish in the garage - Linen blazers for £19.99!

Something else but not from Lidl

The Triax is on a scaffolding pole that has had an extra section fitted on top and joined with a (fairly) standard scaffolding coupler like these - however, the large nuts on those are around 22mm (probably actually 7/8"), which is not a size to be found as standard in socket and spanner sets, or easily available in the UK.

Previously I & then CH had to use something like mole grips to tighten those nuts - but now I have a couple of 22mm sockets like these from China for around a couple of quid each - should make things easier in the future.

May or may not be the 12V one that I mentioned above (which was supposed to be available from the 24th) as they are already selling other mains & battery powered ones.

Edited previous post to include most links.

Before you buy that, make sure you can get spare bits from "somewhere" (as I did when I bought the Maplins one - where the Duratool station and bits appear to be the same as the Maplins ones, but just differently branded).

Ref the Parkside 12V angle grinder, which is now in my local Lidl stores, spare batteries do not seem to be available from the OEM, which, it turns out, is Grizzly tools in Germany (and I also can't find them on ebay and so on).

The grinder IAN is 297696, and the Model number (from the tool manual) of the battery is PAP 12-Li A1 and its P/N is 80001137 – therefore i have now asked Lidl if batteries available from them and if so then what is the cost?

I will get in touch with Grizzly but I guess that probably puts the "kybosh" on any thoughts on buying that tool - "Great work" Lidl

My response to Lidl "Customer Service" this morning was:
"Thanks for that, which is actually “very little” - or maybe I should say “VERY LIDL”! Lidl UK should NOT be selling products for which it can provide no support, and then telling customers to phone Germany if they need any help! :("

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

That's the thing about things bought under supermarket own-brands, you don't know what they are until after you buy them usually, if they carry no spares that are unique to their products, don't touch them...

With my mower and chainsaw being Aldi's "Gardenline" brand, they're not exactly the best, but, the mower I believe was made by Qualcast (or whoever builds their mowers), and the chainsaw by Einhell, so could get spares if needed, but given they're such generic products, the only spares I'd need would be simple things like oil, fuel & elbow grease, so not really too worried about their functional futures... :)

"Luckily", the packaging and the downloadable manuals for Lidl's "Parkside" tools show the OEMs' details and so you don't have to actually buy the tools to find who made them (or, at least, imported them into the EU) - that's how I identified that Grizzly are the EU-based company involved in the supply of the 12V angle grinder.

It seems that the rather ascerbic reply above to Lidl has now produced an interesting result:

This afternoon, I got an email from a company that I'd never heard of: Novo in Bilston, as follows (and which you might like to make a note of for the future):
"Good afternoon,
We have been asked to contact you by Lidl.
We can order the battery for you at a cost of £15.95 including postage and delivery. Should you wish to place an order please telephone 08442434150 where payment may be made by debit or credit card.
Please note we estimate delivery within approximately 14 days from receipt of payment, excluding bank holidays.

Best regards

Looking at their website home page, it looks like they provide "bespoke" aftersales services for quite a few companies/brand names,- such as Rowenta, Makita, Krupps - and Lidl Parkside & Florabest, as well as for Grizzly themselves

Phoned them up and had a chat with the lady there (I have omitted her name from the above info), and it seems that they also provide support for the Kompenass-sourced Parkside tools (but not for the Scheppach-sourced ones). Anyway she was very friendly and helpful and so, I have now decided to get one of the grinders (3yr warrantee) from Lidl and have ordered 2x spare batteries (1yr warrantee only) from Novo.

BTW: that lady said not to bother emailing/phoning Lidl about spares etc. for the Parkside (etc.) stuff that they handle - just phone NOVO!

Correction to post #357

Having checked again with NOVO because I had a niggling feeling that I might have misheard something about the suppliers of the Parkside-branded tools, I must now confirm that NOVO are NOT the Kompenass agents in this country - in fact, it seems that there probably isn't a UK agent and so everything has to be dealt with via Lidl or direct with Germany.

Lot of DIY stuff coming up in Lidl from Sunday 24th June - including spare batteries and chargers for the Parkside 20V cordless tool range.

Time to "nudge" this thread me thinks, as I have just repaired my Xtrend receiver with the digital soldering station (19.99p) I picked up from Aldi about three weeks back now (Local area availablity was from then) and I also picked up just on Monday there the Lidl 20V series impact driver for £19.99 (Body only, I have the 20V hammer drill from the same series and two cells remember from earlier in this thread) used it that same day to drive home two long wood screws that I had to reattach the skirting boards with, It felt good to wield some torque into the screws without the need of elbow grease I must say.
