@RimaNTSS
Thanks for the offer but I would then have to mount them on a long strip in order to fix them to "whatever" - and I think you or someone else would make better use of them.

Sounds great, get some pictures up :)
Pictures below.

I like both tools and everything seems "fine" - until the last few shots which show that the knobs on the ends of the 3 rods which you use to lower/raise the chuck on the drill. 2 out of 3 just shattered the first time I put any rotational pressure on them because of a basic design fault in the rods in that they screw into the narrow ends of the knob, but there is just not enough "meat" there to take the pressure and so they break away! Not a big problem because I have now ordered some 30mm round ones (the shape they should have been to start with!) to replace the existing ones and, BTW, the required female thread in the knobs is M8 - unfortunately they are probably coming from the Far East and so will take 2-3 weeks.

PS: also ordered 2m of 40mm i/d flexible hose to attach to the rear extraction vent on the mitre saw because I don't want the sawdust flying everywhere (as happened up to now with the old saw) - just need to find the right sort of largish plastic container to fit that into, and somewhere to locate it (probably under the Bench drill)

By the way that rear extraction vent on the chop saw does not work too good unless you have a very powerful shop vac or a professional vacuum system, on mine I had to build a sawdust cabinet around the back side to catch it all.

They make a dust cyclone cover that will fit on top of a garbage can, one side goes to the saw (or what ever) the other end to your vacuum system, the big stuff winds up in the can, the dust winds up in your vacuum.

I have one of these installed in the shop, and a 10 inch ducting system run around the place with 4 inch drops to all the saws and other equipment that needs a vacuum, also 4 floor sweeps.

Maybe somebody can recognize this tool.... and what it is made for?
Someday I will demonstrate the results of job done by using this tool.
Someday....when?
Or did I miss something?

Ref the extraction system, I will have the same issues and so will be looking for a small extractor fan to insert into the hose - but nothing too expensive! Maybe an old hairdryer with all the grills etc., removed?

Not going to be powerful enough, a standard shop vac may do it, a canister vac wont, this from experience.

Before I went to the big vacuum system I had setup my chop saw with a switch mounted to the work bench for the vacuum, when needed I hit the switch.

Even then it's going to throw saw dust everywhere but into the hose.

Thanks for the experienced advice - noted!

However, as I will only use the saw occasionally, I'll try the "possible" canister vac "solution" first. OTOH, if that doesn't work then I'll probably just have to settle for having to clear up the "excess" sawdust manually :(

Hello - me again with something else coming up from Lidl, and it's something I've rarely, if ever, seen before:

It's a bench mount grinder/cutterthat's a bit like a mitre saw - but for metal - supposedly available from next Sunday, and - if the same is true as was for the mitre saw - they'll have some cheap replacement blades available as well.

Looks very useful, and should be a lot more usable than my current lash-up rig using an old angle grinder on a tool-stand with a press-drill vice to hold the metal to be cut - which it doesn't do very well at all.

PS: regarding the broken knobs on the bench press drill, I stripped useful bits off the old one before junking it and found that the knobs on that have exactly the same internal M8 threads as the Parkside drill and fit it perfectly - pity I was too late to cancel the order of round ones from China :(

Picked this up in Lidl today for £10, it's basically 8 different sized sockets on one ratchet. Handy for being up ladders, out in the car or if you need a tool quickly. Seems really well made.

It looks like only 4 sockets but the silver ones are sprung loaded to reveal a bigger socket.

And they are open sockets, so ideal for clamps etc.

I looked at those several times but didn't buy one for several reasons, notably they are rather larger and heavier than I would want to use in a "tight" situation, and if you should drop the removable socket inserts then there's a chance you would not find them again.

I've got far too many tools, but I saw it as a gadget and quite quick to use, yeah not great for "tight" spaces but perfect for most things if you need a tool quickly or don't want to carry many.

The sockets are not removable, so nothing to lose :)

I've also got far too many tools and that includes quite a few "gadget" tools like that, but they rarely seem to get used - probably because I forget that I bought them, and/or where I put them :(

PS: got the Lidl Metal Grinder on Sunday and it looks a solid job, but not yet had a chance to install it - and that will be a bit more involved as, it seems, I need to put metal sheets below and behind the tool to reduce the risk of sparks igniting things.

Spent the afternoon mounting the Grinder on the bench next to the Mitre Saw, but most of the time was actually taken up in making up aluminium alloy shields for the bench area, the upstand and window behind, and a 3rd one to cover the plastic conduit for the mains wiring - from some very old sheets of alloy that had formed the chimney vents for 2 gas fires which were removed in 1998 and have been in the garage every since because I could not bring myself to throw them out on the basis that "they may be useful someday", and today they were! :)

The need for the shields is emphasised in the installation instructions - and they were confirmed as most certainly being necessary by the large showers of sparks that came off the first experimental cuts of some steel rod I made when everything was finished! Very pleased with this tool as it will make quite a few jobs much easier, quicker and more accurate than I could achieve with the old lashed-up setup. Will try to take some photos tomorrow.

PS: ref the old mitre saw that I replaced a couple of weeks ago: couldn't bear to just junk it because it still worked reasonably well (for what it was!) and so wrapped it up with the instructions and stuck a "Free to Good Home" notice on the outside. I put it on the front hard-standing on Monday morning because many parents walk past as they take their kids to the school down the road and pick them up later - and it obviously found a "Good Home" quickly because it had gone by the time we got back from my wife's 2nd cataract op early on Tuesday afternoon! :)
