Some Rolson wire clippers I have had for years and some scrap earth cable I had to remove excess solder was the only two things not pictured, no flux or scrape tool came with the soldering station, just two reels of solder and two spare tips were the supplied extras.

Nice station though. I've had a Vann Draper station for what must be 30 years now, can't find new bits that fit it - ones I buy are supposedly the correct fit, but don't :(
Just soldier (solder?) on with the old ones, happily they still do the job, probably because I make sure they don't overheat. Lost the cleaning pad ages ago, just use cut pieces of kitchen scourer sponge :)

Nice, Like the kitchen dish sponge idea, I was only planning on spending £13 on just a simple plug in Iron from the hardware section in "Wilkos" but when I seen the tip on that iron it was a big fat thing like the end of a nail punch tool, even for the larger spacing of just capacitors it looked too fat to be remotely careful with, It gave me the "fear" of burning a chip ect on the board, bugger that!

If you can measure the internal diameter and length of the old bits, there is a fair chance you/we can find something compatible.

I have station which looks exactly as yours. Fixed it to the wall to save space on the table.

It got as low as £39.99p in one of my local stores before it finally went off sale, it's weird it's "Philex" badged as that was a cheapo make Argos used to have DIY aerials from, also seen in B&Q with a suitcase sat kit and various aerial bits & pieces.

.... I have now decided to get one of the grinders (3yr warrantee) from Lidl and have ordered 2x spare batteries (1yr warrantee only) from Novo....
Well, I've had the 12V angle grinder for over a month now, it has proved quite usefully small on a number of occasions.

However, the "spare battery" situation is entirely another saga.

When the orginal order was placed with NOVO, the delivery time from Grizzly in Germany looked like about 2-3 weeks - but then that stretched and stretched.

(Almost!) Finally, at the begining of this week, I was told that even Grizzly needed to wait until the Chinese manufacturer actually built some more - then, just a day later, I had a pending delivery notification from Yodel stating that something was coming from Novo, which - on checking with them - turned out to be the 2 batteries (that surprised even them!).

So, yesterday, there I was, waiting for a delivery from Yodel, but nothing came. Then this morning, I found an automated message from Yodel saying the consignment had been delivered and signed for - but that certainly wasn't here to us, and we (and now it seems NOVO) have absolutely no idea of where it has gone!o_O

So, now NOVO have placed a new job to order 2 more batteries - and they/I have absolutely no idea of when (or should I say IF) those will ever actually arrive with me !

Yodel replaced Citylink as the worst courier in the country, I hope they follow Citylink's example and "go away"...

Still, I did get a free 960GB SSD out of them for losing an order... :-rofl2

Latest Lidl DIY stuff is for release on Sunday 15th and includes this 2kW electric weedburner - but the ad says that it can also be used for igniting charcoal or removing paint and varnish!

OTOH, that prompts me to think that I could probably use my existing 2kW paint-stripping gun to burn the weeds (don't need to ignite charcoal because our BBQ is gas)!

At 19.30 this evening the door chimes rang, and a delivery driver handed over a small package – containing the 2x Parkside batteries!

No signature was required (as was required by the delivery conditions, and confirmed by the Yodel Tracking App has having been provided YESTERDAY evening) and so it would seem that whomsoever they were delivered yesterday to must have contacted Yodel and reported the incorrect delivery and requested the package be picked up again. Notably, it could be seen that one of the battery boxes had already been opened before delivery here!

So, I've now told NOVO that they can cancel the order for the replacements – and I suggested that they consider moving to another courier service as someone (2cv, but not mentioning this forum!) had made the following comment earlier today: “Yodel replaced Citylink as the worst courier in the country, I hope they follow Citylink's example and "go away"..”. I hope they now actually do do that!

May also have been the driver than signed for it to meet the delivery deadline, then just added it to today's batch to go out...

None of the couriers come close to DPD's service, 1 hour delivery window and the slightly creepy GPS map where you can see where the parcel is "driver on drop 113, yours is 116" !

Your 1st para may well be true - but DPD aren't always that great either!::rolleyes: ATM I can't remember the exact details but a local DPD driver completely failed to make a scheduled delivery recently, and that consignment arrived a day later! :(

I've not had problems with DPD here, and Hermes has a good operative here too, but yodel, ugh, if things actually arrive, it's a damned miracle!!

Heck, one thing I had ordered earlier in the year, they delivered to the house across the street, nobody was in, so they just did a fake signature, dumped it on their doorstep and buggered off, it's just lucky that they're decent neighbours and that nobody came by to swipe it!!

Hermes is terrible for length of delivery time and their tracking is dodgy as hell looking. The one thing I do know is that your local Hermes courier that will actually deliver your item to you is self employed and they get like 75p a parcel, by the time you have paid petrol money your lucky if your making minimum wage, I feel sorry for the decent guys working for them.

Our Hermes operative here is also very good, and has been delivering stuff via various courier services for many years - we have her phone number, and often give her a call to ask for a convenient delivery slot when we get a card through the door or an email about a forthcoming delivery.
