I need to open a document -:

File Type: Microsoft Office Access Database File

File Extension: .mdb

Description: This file is a Microsoft Office Access database file.

Is there an alternative program I can download free that will open this?

I do not have Office on this laptop I am using whilst away from home.:-doh2

None.
MS have (had ?) a 30 days evaluation CD and you pay for the shipment $5-$10

Send the file to a friend and ask him to convert it to Excel or pdf and there is a free Excel viewer that you can dl from Microsoft.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

OpenOffice:

Simple as that.... :)

EDIT:
Ok, I'll elaborate:

Writer = Word
Impress = Powerpoint
Math = "Mathematical Function creator"...
Draw = "Vector Drawing tool"...
Calc = Excel
Base = Access

Hope that helps... :D

Are there any issues with Open Office and the various versions of Access?

I presume that it won't open the latest 2007 version but what about any of the other ones as they seemed to change the file format with every new release!

Haven't a clue, it's just a case of try it and see, I personally haven't used it yet, but every system that I've built at the shop I'm doing part-time work for has OpenOffice installed as standard... :)
