Hi,

Not sure if correct forum, just joined. I've been watching tve International, a Spanish channel and lost it a few days b

I can't seem to get my old amiko box to get it off the hotbird sat where it had moved to. Just wondering has anyone else managed to connect or is it perhaps a problem with this old sat box.

Also what sat box would people recommend if I had to replace it. I don't understand how to get channels on Internet... Very olde school sorry

TVE Internacional has moved to being in HD on Eutelsat 13°E (Hotbird), using a newer transmission format called DVB-S2. I'm guessing your twin LNB set-up includes one pointing at Hotbird as well as Astra 1?

What model is your old Amiko box? I'm guessing that it only supports the older DVB-S transmission format, which is the format still used for a lot of SD channels, including TVE until it left Astra 19.2°E a few days ago. Old receivers that only support DVB-S are unable to tune to newer transmissions using DVB-S2.

You'll probably need a new satellite receiver to carry on receiving TVE if that is the case. The good news though is that as far as I'm aware, all boxes available to purchase nowadays support HD/DVB-S2, and you should be able to get something for around £40.

12303 V 27500 hotbird for TVE y Canal 24
you need a monoblock lnb to get Hotbird and Astra 1 with a single cable connecting to receiver
a few channels are still on Astra1,you probably have them already(Andalucia Galicia etc)
but tve y Canal 24 are now on hotbird 12303 V 27500

Hi I've got an AMIKO ALIEN 2+ TRIPLE. Two S2 Satellite & 1 T2/C Hybrid Tuner, an olde one I guess.

Question then could you recommend a tuner or brand as all the ones I used to know don't seem to be around anymore that are got at recording on a timer... Must say I'd be interested in knowing what I can use the Internet side of these new receivers but I don't understand them.

Basically from what you say I'll need a new receiver. So help anyone please that can record and easy to use.

OK - That receiver is compatible with DVB-S2 so you should have no problem tuning to the signal. You will not need to buy a new receiver. :)

You need to make sure you are receiving a signal from Hotbird on your twin LNB, and then tune to the frequency mentioned by @rodscha, where you should find TVE internacional and 24h in HD.

You'll need to make sure you've selected the right LNB on the switch (in the tuning menu on your receiver you'll need to flick between LNB A/B or 1/2 to select Astra or Hotbird) to be able to tune to the frequency using the LNB receiving Hotbird.

Hi I must be doing something wrong then as I've done blind scan and non blind scans even trype in the transponder 12303 V 27500 3/4 while scanning hotbird and it just past that frequency finding nothing.. Which was why I was thinking perhaps the box doesn't support this new channel....

Any ideas?

for astra and hotbird, buy a MONOBLOCK designed for 13&19(a very common article )
not a twin, which would be for 2 receivers and 1 satellite

Hi sorry I wasn't clear. We have 2 lnbs separated by a mono block... And do get channels from astra and hotbird. I just can't tune into the new location it skips it... Wondering if its because we've never updated the software.... Also wondering if upgrading the sw will make recording able to be programmed as it never records properly....

Sorry about being a pian

DiSEqC settings?

That Monoblock needs Hotbird to be assigned to Port A and Astra 1 to Port B (Or vice versa, depending upon which head of the Monoblock is clamped in the LNB holder).

Hi guys. Guessing that the satelittle box has already got all that set correctly as watch channels Astra and Hotbird. What I can't seem to do is find the where TVE International has gone even when I do blind searches and typed in the transponder details it just flys past it finding no channels...

search the channel individually ,the signal is very strong..
it may be that you re scanning astra 1 instead of hotbird ,
and that s the reason why the scanning misses it because it s absent from astra 1's list

Quite.

I think that you'll then find my earlier comments about DiSEqC Port assignment for your Monoblock are relevant, and easily put right.
