I'm Andalusian too and I agree with Adam792.
Old people in Andalusia love Canal Sur, the regional channel, the international version on Astra 19.2° East is named CANAL SUR A.
There are many FTA German channels on Astra 19.2° East, you can do a manual search on TP:
- Frequency: 11156 MHz
- Polarity: Vertical
- SR: 22000 kS/s

Or you can do a complete search on Astra 19.2° East with NIT (or Network) option activated, and search the channel in the list.

And there are many FTA Italian channels on Eutelsat Hot Bird 13° East. You told you get many German and Italian channels, have you configured DiSEqC?
Manual search on TP 12303 V 27500 Hot Bird 13° East to get TVE Internacional and
24H
, national channels of her interest, I think.

Yes, I’ve heard this said by a friend of mine who is also from Andalusia - those over a certain age can’t get enough of Canal Sur :D

Canal Sur Andalucia has an excellent match making show for over-60
and "se llama copla" with nice....coplas
and lots of info on social life, this makes it very interesting
and perfact to practise Spanish before visiting...Andalucia
rather than getting bored in all-inclusive holidays in "resort" hotels!

First of all - thanks for all the replies. Appreciate it. To be honest, some of it is rather technical; but much of it useful.

The Andalusian channel is indeed: Canal Sur A.
And so we'll be looking to get the free channels on - Astra 19.2° East (and it looks to me like it is posting in the right direction).

As per my original post, I can find lots of German, French etc. but no Spanish.

I can see that it is possible to manually look up channels. Seems that I can choose Transponder settings (there are 100+) - a selection in the photo below. And I can also choose some LBN Frequencies; and depending on my choice of LBN, I can also choose DiSEqc1.0; ...1.1, 22K, LNB Power and Motor (but the dish is static, so irrelevant). Based on this - could someone advise what I should put into these settings (in posts above, a number of manual settings have been suggested, but they don't appear to correspond to the settings that I can actually input).

Many thanks.

Forget all that.

Factory reset the receiver, then search for Astra 1, no other settings with the exception of a network search.

If you can't get Spanish TV after this then you should buy another receiver.

@krys-k1

The most recent comments might not possibly be clear to you, but:

Firstly, do a Factory Reset as recommended by @Channel Hopper - that will delete all the existing identified channels.

Then, and it might also not be clear to you, what @Lazarus is trying to say is that the factory default "LNB Freq" (= the internal oscillator frequency in the LNB for converting the sat download frequencies at 11-12 GHz to the around 2-3.4 GHz frequencies that are sent down the cable to the receiver) of 5150 MHz/5.150GHz is incorrect. Thus go to that menu, click on that menu line, and then scroll (probably to the Right) until you get to the "9750/10600" option (which is the correct one for Ku-band transponders) and select and save that.

(PS: this is unfortunately a common "default" setting for many receivers intended for regions where use of the Sat "C-Band" satellite channels is common.)

Then rescan 19E and you should hopefully find the desired Spanish Channels :D

Thank you all for your help.

As an update - having followed all the advise here (aligned dish with the help of compass, programmed receiver) I still couldn't find the Spanish channels. I ended up calling out a satellite dish technician who undertook a number of tests and diagnosed a faulty LNB. So likely the very last thing that could be an issue and one that I didn't have the equipment nor knowledge to determine.

9 / 10 I'm able to fix things myself without the need of an expert, this was the 10%. But overall I do end up saving time and money on the remaining 90%. And as an added bonus, I picked up a little bit of knowledge on satellite dishes, alignment, receivers and channels. Again, thanks.
