...thing which occurs not often in sequels...

That the sequel starts just moments or hours after the first film which was made four years previously.

The only one I know is Bride of Frankenstein which uses the same night the first movie ended on as the night to start the second film, four years later. O-Ha

Btw, it's on Film4 now (5.23pm). :D Thanks, mate. :D

?????

Lots of films have sequels, or are in series (not quite sure what's being asked here!).

eg, Back to the Future 1/2/3 , currently being shown on ITV (I think they're all almost on same day, too!).

Police Academy series?

The Godfather 1/2/3, currently on film4.

James Bond.

Star Trek 1/2/3/4/5/ ......... 598 (joke!).

Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street .... etc ...

and so on ......

Exactly what are you after?

LOL, we know that there are hundreds of sequels, but Saturlight is speaking of the ones which start exactly where the original finished, or as near as dammit. :)

I believe that the Back to the Future sequels you mention fit the bill though. :)

I think you will find Back to the Future 2 and 3 could be exempt as a result of the film subject.

Quite a few of the anime serial offerings are based on daily events of a particular person, though tese could not be considered films as they are rarely feature length.

I have a feeling Gremlins, and the sequel were placed back to back timewise (hatching eggs).

Beyond the Poseidon involved the same boat as the original, which would have sunk after a day surely ?

Is there a Groundhog Day 2 in the pipeline ?

Yeah, sorry, thanks Rolfw.

Well, in that case, the already made suggestion of Back to the Future probably best fits the requirement.

Offhand, can't think of any others, it's an unusual request, why so?

I was just intrigued by the Bride of Frankenstein following minutes on from four years ago. :)

It's just occurred to me that soaps are continuous. East Enders, Coronation Street, The Archers, etc .....

Dr Who is, in that the separate adventures are presented as sequential and immediately following on, although the writers might say that's not necessarily so.

(but, as folks know, i don't think Dr Who actually has any "writers", now !).

In that case, as far as HAL's concerned, 2010 followed on immediately from 2001 (in between, he was disconnected, so didn't know anything).

I think that could be allowed (did HAL have a lithium battery powering a clock chip ? )
