I have picked up an old squarial. Just wondering if it is any use at all?

Of course it is - you can make a lovely coffee table out of it! ;) O-Ha

So, no use at all? Is it a limitation of the built in LNB?

Yes, rubbishy LNB noise figure (>1db) combined with dish size and limited frequency range means next to worthless. Might be worth something to collectors though.

See what you can pick up with it. Half the fun of the satellite hobby is seeing what you can get with your equipment. I would have thought the analogue stuff off 5W should be in range as AB3 transmits at such high power.

Wasn't the squarial only capable of receiving circularly polarised transmissions? Not sure if it'd be OK for H/V polarisations.

Apparently yes, just been reading up on it! You could remove the 'plastic sheet' (whatever that means...), turn it over and refit it to convert it from right hand to left hand!

DOH!

Madness. All this was before my time I'm afraid. LOL.

Hmm...doesn't look like I will get very far with this. Maybe the coffee table idea is not such a bad one after all.

Still might have a go waving it around the garden just for fun. You never know after all...!
