Have discovered that I have inadvertantly been sold an aluminium pole. Clearly for a 90cm dish I need about 2m of 2" steel. Any ideas where I can get something like this, other than hanging around building sites?

I have a big faith in this forum thanks to previous posters!!

Any aerial wholesaler will stock 2" Steel masts, but a scaffolding pole will be better. I just looked through the local yellow pages at the normal text listings for small scaffolding comanies and met one on site one morning, where a fiver changed hands in exchange for a 10ft pole. :)

If you have a SGB (Scaffolding Great Britain) near to you you can buy from them. I buy 3m steel lengths at less than a tenner, they also sell 2m steel lengths.

The mans on medication :D

Just walk a fe yards from your home. Near here almost every street will have a house with scaffold up against it. Just knock on the door and ask if there is any surplus down the side (for a beer token)

At one of the places I fish they have a huge stack, with various fixtures and fitting already attached - just lying around in huge piles (used for constructing lakeside pegs). I just pick up what I need!

thanks to all. I'll try a scaffold contractor first and take it from there
