The problem with our house is that the front of it gets blasted by the morning sun and by mid morning, it's over the top of the conservatory on the other side, which acts like a furnace pumping heat into the house...which then rises throughout. Nights are unbearable.

The conservatory had an investment of various blinds but it's only taking the edge off. We close all curtains during the day, which is a big anti-climax as I want to see the sun!

We have the opposite problem in that the drawing room faces north and the house has no CWI, ergo in winter we need secondary heating at times.

However, in summer it is pleasantly cool.

Another scorcher here tomorrow but cooling off Thursday.

@PaulR - thought you'd be used to warm summer weather with a place in France?

I wish for cool......It was 104 F (40 C) here yesterday, looking at around 108 F (42 C) or higher today, that lake looks good even if it is only 75 F (23 C) in the water.....It takes a bit of working up to it to just say "Heck with it" and jump in.

Yes, it can be scorching in France but I have time to acclimatise and also I'm not stuck in a little office out there.

This latest heat wave is causing problems at the lakes, the lake levels are coming up about a foot a day due to the record snow pack melting, this is causing headaches for the marina operators, they have to pay someone to watch the tie downs that keep the marinas lined up with the access ramps.

It also could put too much strain on the tie downs that keep the docks from floating away, these tie downs need to be adjusted every hour or so or it could cause that section to be pulled under water, this is a 24/7/365 job right now.

Inconsiderate blummin' weather, not only is it still annoyingly warm indoors, but now some thunder's rolling through while I was sleeping...

Expect a few more as the day progresses, local weather report is for 34 degrees around mid-afternoon.

Checking for adequate lightning protection on the new foil underpants.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

To an extent I have to agree with you, BUT, at least in the recent past, for every day that it's too hot in this (now well-insulated)house in the Summer there were 5+ days in the other seasons when it stayed a lot warmer than it was a few years ago. So, on balance, I can live with that :D

I do not know what is happening, bu we still did not get much summer! Yesterday was 13-15* Celsius, today about 15-17. Seems that we skip summer and rolling fast towards the autumn. But that, of course did not prevent me from doing BBQ several times. What is this all about.... aw, I've decided to make cold-smoke-generator. Will do it approximately like this ScreenHunter_356 Jul. 02 15.33.jpg Already ordered from PRC fish-tank air-compressor and got this 114mm x 2mm x 610mm piece of pipe. The outdoor thermometer part hit 33.5 (in the sun) today. The ants believed it was the right day to do their stuff as well.
