Just a reminder that peak sun outage day is today, 10th. October. This means the sun is directly behind the Astra satellites this morning, leading to loss of signal for those on the fringes of Europe.
It does have one useful side effect, however, prospective dish installations can be easily assessed just by looking at the shadows from the sun at the correct time of day (11.40am here in Spain). If there is clear sun where you are thinking of installing your dish, the site will get an unobstructed view of Astra 2.
This also applies to other satellites, if you use one of the calculators below.
This was discussed in an earlier thread:

The peak depends on your exact latitude and longitude - here in south Scotland the peak is the 12th & 13th! :D

You're absolutely right, it only applies today at 40 degrees latitude, and gives advance warning for those further north installing dishes- if the sun shines, of course.

The sun does not actually have to be visible to cause block out/break up of the signal, and more so on the weaker satellites. My max output is tomorrow the 11th at my location.
