Excellent news .................. Not on the direct route from Alicante to Lorca, but actually not a particularly significant diversion - especially as my Outbound Flight has been brought forward a couple of hours so we may not feel the need to go A to B.

It's quite a big one too so you will be able to stock up on what you need.. Its just as you go into the port after the roundabout on the right hand side, where the banks are and Mercadona. .Opposite Lidl

Splendid news - thankyou so much! Do you know what time it closes on Sundays, by any chance?

Plan A is still Eroski at Elche, but their Website only show Opening Times for the current month so I can't verify until nearer the day.

Edit: Just looking at a map - When you say Mazarron (Port) do you mean the settlement of Puerto de Mazarron, which seems to be a few km South East of Mazarron on the RM332 (I don't want to be fannying around getting lost!)?

Ah, well: The Eroski at Elche is definitely Closed on Sunday 26 April (They have an Opening Hours calendar, updated monthly, on their Web Site), so a detour via Puerto de Mazarron has been programmed in.

Anyone know exactly what time Upper closes on Sundays?

If you want i am in the area next Monday ( i work a couple of miles from there) and i'll check the opening times on Sunday for you

That would be great, Richard. Done some more searching today and suspect it'll be no later than 15.00 closing, which is the same as at the small Upper at our target village (Estacion, just south of Lorca) and not practical. In which, event, we'll find a leisurely Lunch on the way from Alicante, and chance our luck on a curtailed grocery list from a Service Area.

Been to Totana a few times, stopping at Bakeries to pick stuff up for our trips into the Sierra d'Espuna. Lovely area.

Not sure what time you are arriving, but La Zenia Boulevard is open most days of the year.

I'm not too far from the Espunas, I live in between Totana and Aledo

Just reporting back as promised, It looks like Upper in Puerto de Mazarron closes at 2.30pm on Sundays..So looks like La Zenia is your best bet if it's open on Sundays..Good luck!

Yes it is, restaurants are open 365, shops only close 4 days a year!

Well thankyou anyway, Richard. We don't wish to find ourselves in a rush, so sadly will rule Puerto de Mazarron out.

Not going to Espunas this time - thought we'd have a look at Sierra Cambron instead.

Well out of the way.

If you've got any hope it will be...

There is an Eroski superstore on the motorway about 5 km before Murcia. Or there may be a few options on the Ikea complex a few km further along.

Any other "supermarkets" that are open on a Sunday are going to be extremely expensive and all brand name products. Personally I'd never consider doing any shopping on a Sunday for just this reason.

Sorry, didn´t read this bit! Nuevo Condominium, not open Sundays, nor is the Thader commercial.

That said, with a good wind, air traffic control and hire cars, Tivu should have a good lunch by now and stocked up for a week at Alcampo, La Zenia.
Probably waiting in the carpark for SWMBO to finish shopping!

Well, as luck would have it, pressing the Hire Car's pedal to the metal, we got to our favourite Spar franchise close to our destination at 14.20 and they stayed open until 15.00 so we got stocked up nicely.
