Good evening after a sunny day in Mullion Cove Cornwall.

No I have not passed on to the Clarke belt, just been playing with other things : )

I have just purchased a Superjack Darl-3608 only to find it is like a miniature version of the other jacks I have.

Looking at the sellers picture I made the wrong assumption, my fault.

Its intended use was to replace the over long jack that moves the top 1.3 m dish in the image vertically.

The end bolt hole is to small, but I can get round that.

Most of the wind load is going to be East West not on the vertical jack.

Still not happy with the idea though, any thoughts appreciated : )

God Bless Spiff

Your motor will have around three times the drive force of Spiffs. Plus yours is in compression.

Interesting setup Nelson. Don't think I've seen this one before. How's your CM feedhorn performing? From memory, it's supposed to only cater for higher frequencies - I think there were three types in total.

Good morning Channel Hopper the sun has disappeared behind cloud today.

Why three times the drive force and how does the fact that this gentlemen's jack operates in compression effect the loading ?

Thank you for your reply.

That is an interesting installation, is the dish upside down or am I looking at it the wrong way ?

Your dish it fibre so could weigh as much as my 1.3 aluminium ?

The motor is also smaller on the mini jacks, I did not know there were small versions of the Superjack till it arrived : )

Hi -
Yes the dish is upside down :) it just seemed more balanced to mount it upside down on the jaeger 1224 ... with less wind resistance .... and it clears the roof in front properly now ... it didn,t on the C.M. polar mount polar 1.jpg

- and yes it probably weighs as much as your 1.3 aluminium

My mini jack was bought in error too .. l.o.l. but it has come in usefull on a number of setups over the years

Sorry if it's a daft question, but just what was it that you were expecting?

Hi - C.J. --- you have seen before :) Channel Master 1.2 (inverted) on Jaeger 1224
The C.m. feed works well on this 1.2 dish ... but not on the 1.8 C.M offset ....
this one on this 1.2 is fitted with a C120- modified Titanium twin l.n.b. and gives the best all round results of anything i,v used on this dish so far ...
i have two C.M feedhorns both with the numbers 3040661 stamped on them ..
pic here of the original packaging from one of them that i bought new many years ago.

Good evening,

I was expecting it to be the same size as my other three jacks, that is in the diameter of the main shaft, the motor and the end fitting all of which are in miniature on this one in comparison.

The whole thing is scaled down, if I had expected this I should have looked up the model number.

It was a bargain at the price and brand new, even if I do not use it for the purpose intended it will come in for some thing else.

Looking at the image on the eBay listing there was nothing else in the picture to compare its size too.

I have since found a chart which specified the different sizes, I new that it was going to have a shorter stroke but that did not mater and was the reason I purchased it, we live and learn : }

Nelson_B has one and mentioned that he had made the same mistake with is consoling : )
