Hello all,

Has anyone come accross these Supral, Russian made dishes? The spec given HERE for the 1.8m shows what seems like a rather excellent gain of 46.3dB. This is listed as a 'midband' gain with a Ku band frequency range of 10.95 - 12.75.

I see these selling for local delivery in Moscow for around $300. Delivery, tax etc. to Eastern Europe is another story. However, technically does anyone know anything about these??

I'm replying to my own post in an effort to stimulate a discussion.

It seems to me that the JSC Almet specification (makers of these Supral dishes) for their 1.8m dish is genuine. The beamwidth for example is 0.7 degrees which seems proportionally correct for the given gain. It's the same as that of, for example, a 2.4m Prodelin which has a similar gain - (There, I've said the magic word - perhaps Channel Hopper will show some interest  ).

Jens Satre's efficiency calculator gives the efficiency at 84% for 11.9Gig, which I would say is not impossible to achieve mechanically. But is it true ??

Finally, I've seen these dishes for sale in Russia, the Ukraine, Cyprus (Exohos) and Malta.

:) - NickMT, have you seen a 1.8 Supral in Malta?

:) - onpiste, you said in a posting last August that you were going to compare Supral, Laminas and Hollstar - How did it go?

:) - stuzeeuk, you're in the Ukraine, have you come accross a Supral dish there?

All comments appreciated...

Prodelin 1.8 series antenna - gain 45.5dB at midband

Prodelin 2.4 series antenna - gain 47.0 dB

Since the Supra is a solid aluminium (compared to the mesh inside fibreglass design) then there is little doubt the gain would be marginally higher. I would tend to agree with the figures.

The only problem may be shipping to ensure the reflector remains undamaged or distorted.
