The 40" tv I acquired a few months ago has, for a third time this week changed channel all by itself whilst on Freeview. Whilst I missed it the first two times, today there was a 30 second notification on screen, which mentioned 'You have set an operation, and the channel must change to xxxxxxxxxx . Press OK to cancel'.

So, is there a channel selection option on the Freeview EPG that I have set , or is this something unique to the TV ? It's a 'now/next' guide rather than the full 7 day version that I can see.

I'll try to get an image next time it happens, not easy.

Sounds like the old "auto view" option you got on $ly etc, but in saying that would only have happened the once, not three times.

Lol, Bloody hell mate, maybe there's a Tesco ad on ITV4 it wants you to watch. I've had a few smaller Vestel made sets which I believe yours may well be but never had this issue creep up.

Does your television have a timer record option, to record to an external device? Maybe a series record has been set.
Could it be an automatic software update?
What is the make/model, of the television? Might be worth doing an internet search to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

Technika LCD 40 - 270 Manuals

Page 21 suggests a reminder can be set, but I would have to check this feature, then see if I have inadvertently pressed the green button.

Should have more than now or next, has it not got an EPG or Guide button.

I've never knowingly used the epg button, though there is one.

Well that's where to look and see if a reminder has been set.

Ah, mind playing tricks. There is no epg button on the remote.
