I bought one of these recently. Picture to me seems poor. Very grainy compared to the DR F15.
Would installing the Patch which I have on another MK3 receiver help do you think???
Patch I was thinking of was 1.15p from April 2014

Have not tried this one but am running 126p on a Samsung 40'' LED.

As said above, running 126p.

For me absolutely superb quality, between things have been watching the snooker on BBC2 (ended now on this channel) and running at 1084 KB/s.

Obviously picture output will depend on user settings etc re: TV and receiver.

Overall I find this to be a great receiver with a sensitive tuner and is certainly user friendly.

Hope u achieve the results you want on this theme. respect-048.gif

I too am using patch 1.26 on my M3 and picture quality is excellent, especially on hd channels. Broadcasting channels may be the issue as I find some have poor picture quality. My M3 is being used with a Toshiba plasma tv.

Thanks MarkW. Much much better now!
Anyone know the difference between 126p and 128p patches?

Please can someone help?
A few months ago I bought a TM-5402 M3 and I'm desperately unhappy with the picture quality.
There is a very strong bias to Purple & Mauve at the cost of all other colours. Everything looks totally unnatural...!!
I've tried hard to breath some warmth into the picture quality by adjusting all the controls on my TM-5402 M3 and TV. But I'm not really getting anywhere.

I cant help feeling there is a problem with this 5402 m3 because if I reduce saturation to a minimum I do not get a monochrome picture as one would normally expect.
But the red areas are still red. and blue areas are still blue...!!
This is my 5th Technomate receiver and this problem is grossly out of kilter with all my previous receivers. I can switch between different receivers on the same connection and see it live.

I wonder if anyone out there with a TM-5402 M3 would be kind enough to try their Saturation level at minimum and see if they have any colours still showing...???
I would be so very grateful.

Just tried on my M3 and the picture is almost monochrome apart from strong colours which so through.I find the picture to be great, normally.I've got a Sony Bravia 40".If the controls are neutral on your other receivers then I'd suspect the M3.Give Technomate a call, they're very helpful.Cheers

Same as the poster 'MarkW' comments...... 'the picture is almost monochrome apart from strong colours'.

¿Is your 5402 patched (as per posts above) or as purchased with factory settings? .......if patched may be worth a different patch version just to rule out a corrupted download or indeed download and install the original firmware which I guess is:-

Technomate Support - TM-5402 HD M3

Picture quality wise and as said by myself and others is superb.

Hope you arrive at a satisfying result, good luck. respect-048.gif

How's your receiver connected to the TV? Sounds like one of Scart connector pins is loose, especially if using rgb mode

Technomate M1's picture is superior to model M3, especially at sd channels. At hd channels M1 is a bit better but this does not mean M3 is bad at all.

Did you made the right System Settings, A/V Output Settings? I have the same model and can´t complain.

The TM5402HD M3 has an inferior picture in SD when compared to the TM6902HD on a 40 inch Sony Bravia,

TM added a load of video controls but to no avail & TM admit that the M1 has a better picture than the M3 in SD as 90% of satellite TV is in SD this probably due to the Video up scaling not working so I find the M3 is best viewed on a 32 inch TV or smaller.

Yes the Dr HD series & other non-Linux TM's are fine in SD & HD,

I suggested that they go to spec savers if they thought the M3 had a superior picture in SD I got no replies after this on this subject :-rofl2

HD is just fine so I use this receiver for HD feeds & HD tv

TBH, I'm not at all impressed with the SD picture (VERY soft) of the 5402 M3 either (on a 22" ACER monitor via HDMI), but the HD picture is fine - must be poor at upscaling :(

I think the up scaling is non existent on the M3,

Other problems with the M3 when mentioned are shoved under the carpet as they will not re work the software
The data base adds all the transponders on 42 east even the one's on the East beam when you scan also 16 east adds loads on non existent transponders including in this part of the Ku Band 11700 to 12500  when I pointed this out I was told that I was picking up Amos @ 17 east with a 88cm dish :-rofl2

Overall the M3 adds about 300 non existent transponders to your data base after several transponder scans :(
I gave up trying to compile channel lists with the M3 so use the M1 or M2 instead :D

Thanks for the info about "upscaling"- most unimpressive for a widely applauded "update" to a basic Rx design.

Will bear your comments in mind in future - that's probably why a lot of the channels that the Rx "found" then indicated "not found" (or something similar) when I tried to view them:(.

Hi

Thinking of buying another non-Linux DVB-S2 Rx for the lounge, but, as I said above, I'm "not impressed" by the TM5402-M3's SD picture quality, and so what else is there at around £80-100 that:
- does have a good SD picture as well a good HD one (for our 42" Tosh)
- is from a mfr with decent support
- Preferably with twin tuners (& DVB-T /C is not required), but not essential
- is fairly easy/quick to get my hands on.

Thx in advance
John
