Hello to all,

It’s my first post and as you can see from my profile still looking for a sat receiver.
Living in the south of Spain i have only few satellite choices,
ASTRA@28.2° East or ASTRA@19.2° East and/or Eurobird1@19.2°
I use a dish 60cm, one that was left behind from the previous owner.
Right now i am looking to buy a satellite receiver. After some reviews and some forums recommendations here and there I am interested in some models.
One of them is the Technomate TM-1500 CI. The other is the echostar DSB-890 2Ci.
The echostar is easy to find in Spain, sadly the technomate not.
My questions:
Where to find the Technomate in Spain? Any dealers/online shops?
Is the Echostar a better choice?
Do you guy's and girl's have a better recommendation for a receiver.

I am a novice about satellites.

Hi, I live in Spain and use technomate receivers. I always get all my gear from
satellitesuperstore.com in the UK. They send in a couple of days and the prices are excellent

Good question...considering i am from Belgium i would like to watch some Dutch channels but not necessary. As far as I know they are situated on astra. I know that eurobird have lots of channels to offer to. I guess I have to find out.

The Echostar 890 CI seem a good receiver to. It just does not have a (multiple encryption standard) smartcard slot as the Technomate does. On the other hand, I just bid and won a Matrix Revolution CAM on ebay. This would exclude the need for that build-in smartcard reader of the technomate.

Any tips on smartcard for use with the MatrixàAstra oràEurobird1?

Astra 2 at 28.2E carries UK programming. Eurobird 1 at 28.5E also carries UK programming.

Your Dutch stuff is on 19E< but is secure so you will need an official Dutch card for it.

Thanks for your valuable information and for pointing out (Eurobird1 on 28.5)
I give myself plenty of time to slowly learn the do and don't of satellites and receivers.

Have a look at my website www.digitalsat.co.uk which carries details of the free channels easily available across Europe.Any standard digital receiver will receive these as long as your dish is big enough (I use an 80cm dish)
