Technomate TM-Twin 4K Twin Tuner 4K UHD Full HD 1080p Satellite Receiver DVB-S2

Good afternoon from a sunny Mullion Cove Cornwall, we hope you are all enjoying similar weather : )

I have messaged systemsat_direct but no reply.

Does anyone know if this receiver has Blind Scan ?

I can find no mention of it in the specification.

Another question is if the menu is similar to the TM-5402HD C1+ Super+ ?

It has 4k which I am after, not really interested in the Twin tuner but there it is.

Thank You for your time

God Bless Spiff

Hallo Channel Hopper, Thank you for your reply.

I remember reading that post a while back now, so still no software update with blind scan ?

It is surprising that the price has not dropped through the floor by now.

Sad to hear that Ghostleader, I still use the TM-5402HD C1+ Super+ Mk1.

I have hung on hoping, but time to look elsewhere : )

I feel sorry for all the Technomate customers have been let down due to incomplete software upgrades this goes through the whole range of satellite receivers,
I still have a a couple of non Linux receivers as they are excellent for feed hunting & have found a few work around to some of the unsolved problems,
Here are some solutions:-
TM5502HD & TM5302HD after a blind scan some transponders change polarity & on the 2nd part of the Blind scan not all the transponders are scanned again so a complete scan of the data base generally solves this,
The TM5402|HD M1/M2 find a 45,000 symbol rate that does not exist during a Blind scan so you have to delete it then try again,
The TM6900 HD & TM6902HD does override some found frequencies but overall these are the best that TM ever made,

As for TM Linux I found the best solution to some of the software problems was not to bother switching it on after spending several hours on all models giving feedback to Technomate with very poor response they did admit in the end that some of the receivers should not have been released with such poorly written software,
I eventually moved on & dumped the Linux receivers you could not even give them away for someone to use for FreeSat as the learning curve was too steep for most folk,

Now I am happy with the current Multi stream receivers in my collection Octagon SX88+,Golden Interstar Alpha X, & last but not least the Edision primo ipS2.

Just bear in mind that the aforementioned receivers are not 4k .. a good 4k box is Mutant HD41 with Linux .

Mutant HD51 is excellent. Not sure if it does blind scan. And you have to be able to get on with Enigma 2.

HD51 is by far the fastest and most stable E2 receiver I've ever owned! Too bad the manufacturer denied us of blindscan even though the Silabs tuner supports it natively...

Good morning gentlemen,

Blind scan is a must for me, I use it a lot to update.

Unlike the old analogue terrestrial stations they are forever swapping things around.

It was once un-thinkable that tuning to channel one or nine, or the Light or Home service, it would not be there : )

Spiff,

If you wish to select a blind scan frequency range other than the full band then I think you may be limited to either an E2 receiver, a Technomate TM-5402 or some of the older receivers such as Dr HD, Blade etc. Quite a few of the receivers nowadays have a blind scan option but it is the full band rather than range selection.

The Edision Nino Pro and Edision Mio Pro (4K) both have decent tuners and have a customisable blind scan option to select frequency ranges, SR ranges, polarity etc. However, they are both E2 receivers which have a slight learning curve if you have not used them before.

For 28 East I don't think the main stations are forever swapping things around. I would always consult Flysat or similar, before doing a full blind scan. Of course for feed hunting it is an entirely different matter.

But personally I don't give that much importance to Blind Scan, simply because I do not have the time to continually scan 20 or 30 satellites. Again there are good sources for information on feeds. It strikes me that life must be very difficult for people when whole programme groups are relocated. e.g. the channels on 11 West moved to 3 West a while back.

Thank you Captain Jack, MCelliotG, moonbase, dxhound2003 & william-1

I have periods when I am playing with other toys, then find some stations missing on a sat, so I blind scan it.

Updating all 30 or so would take way too long, it is just a matter of if and when for me : )

I think loading a ready made list would mean resetting all the positions as I use V box's ? not sure about that, I forget.

The Technomate I have if fine and I am used to it which makes things so simple, but it does not have 4k which would add another interest.

William-1 I read your write up on the Amiko A4K combo, the link below appears to be a sat only version, but no mention of blind scan on this version unless I missed it.

I have the A4K Combo & there is no mention of a Blind Scan in the specification or in the manual that came with the receiver ?
However my A4K combo has an excellent Blind Scan it splits the Ku band into 4 sections & finds all SD,HD & UHD transmissions.

Are the 4 sections are as listed below?

H-Low
V-Low
H-High
V-High

This type of split could possibly get messy when satellites are close together and a small dish is being used due to frequencies being scanned in from close proximity satellites.

The best blind scan interface I have come across is in the OpenVIX image on an Edision Nino Pro. Forum member "Huevos" has done some good development work to get the OpenVIX blind scan plugin to be user friendly and with lots of selection options for users. The Edision Mio Pro 4K receiver has the same blind scan interface and OpenVIX images for other E2 receivers will probably have the same interface but I have only used it with an Edision Nino Pro. An Edision Mio Pro 4K receiver running OpenVIX is a very useful blind scan receiver, it is also Multistream capable and can scan 16APSK modulation.

I have attached a picture of the OpenVIX blind scan interface. The specific blind scan was for C-Band but the interface is with the same options in Ku-Band. As can be seen from the picture, it is possible to select on a frequency range, symbol rate range, polarisation and other blind scan customisations.
