80cm fixed dish

Apologies if this has been answered before, I have looked. My parents have a place in southern Tenerife and would like as much of the Sky channels as possible. I believe a 2.4m is required for everything but what size dish is needed for everything except Astra 2D - is it possible to pick up the 2A/2B North beams in Tenerife with the right dish?

Also, they have been told that is possible to pick up BBC/ITV being rebroadcast from nearby La Gomera if they get a Freeview box and point the terrestrial aerial in the right direction. Does this sound feasible?
Thanks

My understanding is that a 2.4m dish is only needed for 2D in Tenerife (unlike here in Gran Canaria). If I remember correctly a 1.2 m dish will receive all of 2A and 2B (inc. North beams).

Please search threads and other forums to confirm this as I am only remembering an old thread......

blueplatinum is correct in what a 1.2 dish will pick up, i have seen itv news on a 600mm dish. the rebroadcast channels cant be picked up by a freeview box and a terrestrial aerial, you would need to get in touch with the company thats relaying the channels. they supply a box (with encryption) and digital aerial. i´m not sure of what channels are available at the moment it seems to differ in each area. the last i heard it was 600euros then a 60 euro charge per year for maintenance. hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your help - thought the freeview box rumour was a bit far-fetched.
I think they've got a 1.2m dish - they'd better get used to watching channel 5!
