mistertate, you can use the card in the internal reader but monitor the card very closely. People report very different results on how hot the card gets. I always recommend an omnikey reader for this card if you have a enigma2 box, which you do.

Install NewCS 1.67 and latest CCcam, then use my config creator. The installation is the same regardless of whether you are sharing or not. Just to use the card on your own box , effectively you are sharing it. If you decide to go with an omnikey read the tutorial very carefully.

Thanks that worked. Hmmm I was under the impression NewCS needed to be with 127.0.0.1, oh well!

I've got new entitlements already so it's working! ;)

127.0.0.1 is used when newcs and cccam are in the same "box" and refers to "host" . You could also also use the ip address of that box and it would work too. So if you are using newcs in a server with a DM connected on the network, you need to use the relevant IP address for the server with newcs (assuming you have cccam or mgcamd in the DM). I hope that helps.

Sorry to sound thick but having never dnoe card sharing (nor intending to either) this is new stuff to do when I've come from the old skool of simply setting up CCCam in a 7025.

And no, I'm not unfamiliar with networking or Linux but a lot of the forum posts are written from the point of view of people who are experienced in NewCS etc. I'm not and am finding this a bit of a steep learning curve!

Would it be possible to set out a straightforward step by step guide to setting up the NewCS/MgCamd combination for those of us who dont and wont card share and just want to run the lot from a DM800/DM8000, so a white card can be read and automatically updated?

Also I note in this month's wotsat there's an article on DBs in the modders corner that implies there's a Sly firmware update due to knock the whole DB with sly card notion on the head...truth or propaganda?

Hopefully tomorrow you will have Mgcamd with newcs on the Nabilo server, I will finish testing it tonight.

You will have to add your boxkey to the newcs.xml there is no other way around this but that is all you will need to do.

As for the last statement I have heard this also but only time will tell.

One can only leave that for people to speculate about until the card replacement scheme is complete, the blue cards are killed and the old encryption turned off, I doubt sky would undertake a multimillion pound card replacement scheme because they wanted to change the card colour

have copied B16MCC setting for reading the white card using newcs and cccam and it works fine most of the time however every so often it starts to freeze. Any ideas why this would happen and any way of getting around it?
have no other box connected to it.
using 7025 with gemini 4.40

Had a look tonight for the NewCS 167 and MGCamd 1.30d combo on Nabilosat Blackhole - not there yet but have NewCS 1.67 and CCCam 1.12 working and clearing my white Irish card at last.

Checking the entitlements - they go right up to 30-12-09 but should the card go back into the sly box to keep it paired or can I keep it out of the Sly box until then?

There are reports that it is possible but AFAIK evidence has yet to be provided, there are a number of threads on the forum where entitlements have already or are just abut to run out so don't rely on any information being accurate....The whole scene will change anyhow when sky switch off the old encryption on the new card system, then there will be some moaning

Thanx for a great thread (used several hours to read through it;)

I'm just about to order a sky subscription and have some quick questions:

1. Can you confirm that all sly channels are working with the new white card, including all HD channels (Sports HD etc)?

2. Do I need a Sky HD tuner to first initialize the card, or can I just have a normal decoder to activate the card?

3. Have anyone tried to run the omnikey reader in opensuse 11.1 will it work, or do I have to install Ubuntu?

E1 Mgcamd 1.31 + NewCS 1.67 is now on the server

I need to do some more testing with the E2 version.

Smargo works for me with a 963 White card

The card can be run in the internal but I don't recommend it. Too Hot !
You cannot run this card in a smargo.
The user and pass in your N line are set in the newcs.xml.
You do not need an F line in CCcam.cfg

Please don't hijack this thread with general questions about card server and emulator configs. There's plenty of information about how the different setups work. Thanks...

I haved confirmed and so have others, eariler in this thread that MGCamd does indeed update the card. I can't see how the end of 0961 will effect this in anyway. There is ofcourse the threat that UK will follow IT and change the encryption data word length. Hopefully IT will be fixed before it hits the UK.

Yes you can do this. Same setup as mine and have sucessfully updated. Just create a new user in the newcs management console via web browser and allow AU for this user. Put the corresponding data in your newcamd.list and a couple of small changes in the Mgcam.cfg and thats it. B16MCC has a config generator that will do everything for you, that you can download.

I can confirm that it works and updates. I am running newcs with omniflex card reader, in an Ubuntu linux server and a Dm8000 with mgcamd 1.3d. My entitlements have just updated from 18.11.2009 to 20.12.2009 and it is rock steady !;)

Hi just a update i have sucessfully updated my entitlements using mgcamd 1.31 dreambox newcs 167 linux server entitlement were due to expire 10.11.09 have updated to 20.12.09
