Hello all,

For the people who have problems with Smargo, I would like to put one important point...

- You need ABSOLUTELY to use the PC software to switch the Smargo from PC communication (by default when you receive it) to Dreambox communication... otherwise your Smargo will not work on the Dreambox.

I received mine, a v1.3, and it wasn't working... up to when I found out the tool included on the Smargo packages to run on a PC to switch to Dreambox communication mode, and since then it worked perfect !

I tested on Nabilo Hole v11 or v12 Enigma2 (loaded the drivers from the internal interface to add compatibility to Smargo), on a DM7025. And on my DM7020 using EDG-Nemesis v4.4 Enigma1 (loaded the drivers from the zip file for the DM7020).

My test white card was a full card (without HD) with ESPN. Will have to test a FTA card that I got for me ;o) soon, but should be no problem.

About the boxkey, that I added to NewCS 1.67, with over the top the CCcam 2.1.3/2.1.2 or the MGCamd 1.31, I took off the two 0, from the 00xxxxxxxx box serial number shown on the box menu, and converted with the DEC-HEX converter/calculator from Windows. All worked great.

Guys last night I moved my 0963 card from NewCS / Omnikey to CCcam 2.1.3 / Smargo.

It works perfectly although the ECM times a 50% slower than in the Omnikey. My Omnikey runs around 0.100 in NewCS and the smargo is around 0.165 in CCcam.
As for the boxkey there's no difference at all in the box key only the way you enter it. Be sure to enter the box key as 4 pairs of digits with a space between them. An example of a smargo in a Dreambox would be as follows:-

BOXKEY: /dev/usb/tts/0 A1 B2 C3 D4

Notice the spaces between each byte of the boxkey.


This is my config. Bare in mind this is in a linux PC not a Dreambox.

SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB0 smartreader+
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/ttyUSB0 3690000
BOXKEY : /dev/ttyUSB0 A1 B2 C3 D4

Boxkey changed for obvious reason.

Now if you want to run this in a Dreambox, then don't forget to change the Kernel mode of the smargo to 'Dreambox'. Config would be as follows.

SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/usb/tts/0 3690000
BOXKEY : /dev/usb/tts/0 A1 B2 C3 D4

wannabee, read back through this thread. All the information is here regarding how to get your box key. Use my config creator now in version 0.8.0 and compatible with CCcam 2.1.3

If someone can give me some tips...

With the Smargo, running at any Mhz on NewCS 1.67, I get a timing of 380-400ms... I cannot get it better... it's on my Enigma1, EDG-Nemesis v4.4 DM7020.

Any way to get it down to 100ms ? How ?

It was on my Ubuntu server using a smargo in CCcam 2.1.3. Entitlements where Dec 5th they are now 14th Jan 2010. The only peer with EMM access allowed is my own DM8000 which is also running CCcam 2.1.3.

Its standard CCcam configuration. Its all in the standard CCcam.cfg

in the '5 0 1' the 1 denotes EMM's allowed.

I also have 2.1.3 running on a linux box, the client I am using is a CCcam 2.0.11 if I activate EMM on the client, my channels freeze up and nothing clears anymore.

Can I only use a 2.1.3 Client to send EMMs? Can the 2.1.3 server not get EMMs itself?

I would like my card to be updated without putting it into my digibox every couple of weeks. I was hoping 2.1.3 would do that.

At the moment I cannot use any other client.

This is the info I got when I activated EMM in the client:

handled 953(953) ecms and 250(0) emms

Does this mean my card got 250 EMMs and could not use any of them?

I managed to crack the omnikey on the linux PC then along comes Smargo. Not being one to shirk a challenge I went out and bought one (a smargo). I see in this thread there are references to CCcam.cfg in relation to the linux PC setup. I am ok with the CCcam.cfg on the DM, but where , if at all, does it go when dealing with the Linux PC setup? I have read the thread about setting up the smargo, but it concentrates on the DM and windows. Is there any software to download with linux? Is there a tutorial that I have missed. When all the important stuff has been completed please spare a second or two for me (lol)

First set the smargo to "normal" not "dreambox" using your windows utilities, as you did when setting it to dreambox before.
The config file goes wherever you want and you run "CCcam -C <filename>" where filename is the full path of the config file.
