Hello everybody,

Last week I was 'kindly' talked into buying a Coship2300A FTA receiver, which is of course pretty useless as I discovered. Basically I want to buy new digital receiver for my system: I have a double LNB on one dish and I usually watch astra/hotbird. I am planning to use CAM tech so I need something with CI - want to watch english channels.

Can anybody advise me on a good hardware comparison site or suggest the reasonable (bellow 200EUR) receiver. Something simple and reliable.

Thank you

Simon

Can you not try and swap it for a 5300 Simon?

Nothing wrong with the Coship, I've got the 5300 here and is a lovely little receiver.

There is not a lot of difference between many of the receivers and it depends what you ultimately want to do with it, as to which is most appropriate.

If you think that longer term you are going to searching for obscure feeds on hard to receive satellites, then a receiver with a 36v positioner capability like the Echostar 3600 may be your best bet.

If you think that a 1 metre dish will be all you are going to need, then any receiver with DiseqC 1.2 will operate a motor for that size of dish and will give you more channels that you can watch with only one head. :)

PS. wherabouts are you and what did you pay for the receiver?

thanx rolfw

First of all I paid EUR180 for 80cm dish, double LNB (Visio VM-01 UNiversal Monoblock single LNB; freq range 10.7-12.75 Ghz; Lo: 9.75/10.6 Ghz; NF: 0.5dB; Diseqc 2.0) and CDVB2300A. I am in Belgium, Brussels. Was it a good deal? Basically I just want to change the reciever so I can get some CAM cards to get around the scrambling mess.

Yes, the deal sounds good Simon, I paid €120 for my 5300 from a German company (the 2300 was €98), if your local guy won't trade the receiver up, you can always sell it on eBay.

thanx ralfw. So my best bet is to change to 5300; if not sell it on ebay and buy Ecostar with DiseqC 1.2 (any with CI). right?
