The dual Lnb conversion

Halo Friends,

So Saturday my Sat buddy and me didn’t have much to do, so I had this crazy idea.
Why not take a C-band lnb. Cut out the back of it, and ad on a KU band one?
So that what we did. This is my first project with butchering a LNB. Must say it felt a bit awkward bringing a drill and porting bits to a LNB.EEEEEEK!!!
The result? Well, we got quite a few extra channels on Pas7/10!!Not spectacular ,as the KU band LNB is not a very good one, but it works none the less!

I remember seeing something similar to this somewhere before, I think they just used a regular 40mm clamp LNB on the back...

Great idea though, and cheaper than buying a combined Ku & C band LNBf unit...

Thanks for the nice comments.Yip,i will definately be putting on a better Quality Ku LNB later on.I didnt want to take the nice Ku one off the 1m dish.It would mean no european channels.hehe

hi there,good idea this
you,can also use simultaly,make a hole 3-4 cm,near,the cband lnb,in the feedhorn plate,and put,the kubnad lnb there,or buy,one of the c/kuband combifeeds ,have one here,but kuband performance,is not good,also,for kuband,signal is better,when you go more,inside the antenna , 1-2 cm,put Alu behind your dish,must be made very exactly,in cband no difrents,but,you can optimeized,the kuband signal then!

Hi turok.

I`am very lucky that the KTI i bought is allso suited for KU band.I was very excited when i heard that!This was my option for a Combifeed.The cheap way of having one!
