Tonight in Dublin Ireland, U2 are performing. My wife is (so she says, but then she is Irish) an avid fan.
Naturally it's all hype over here.. "U2, the greatest and best Rock group in the world" is being quoted left right and centre.

I agree they are up there at the top, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they are the mutts nuts. There are others that I would also consider contenders for the title, but I won't mention who for fear of influencing the vote.

If your favourite band isn't here, don't vote, ask for it to be included. This isn't a definitive list of bands, so unless you would vote for them as your best, don't ask us to include them

What I would like, is for you all to make your suggestion for the Poll choices which I will add to the choices when you have made a suggestion. The outcome will then give us an indication of who the general public think is "The greatest and best Rock group in the World!"

I can then show my wife the results!!!!! ;)

SO lets have your suggestions then. :)

I don't think that I could make a choice, as there have been so many great ones, some still around, some not. I guess that it would also depend on your definition of what is a rock band.

I would also say that U2 are up there with the best, but you'd have to compare them with bands like The Rolling Stones, The Who, Ten Years After, Deep Purple, Emmerson Lake and Palmer, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Bruce Springstein and the East Street Band, Adge Cutler and the Wurzels, etc, etc.;)

Honest mate, I really don't have one favourite, it will often depend on my mood as to who sits in the top chair. :)

Put down that can opener will you you're being greedy that is the 2nd can of worms you've opened tonight. Rock bands are like coffee, you change the blend depending on your mood. Pink Floyd always sends shivers down my spine and gets my vote.

Agreed about the mood thingy, I also like many different bands, not just rock either. But I do find myself being more drawn and "in tune" with Floyd. So I made them my choice. As did Lancelot, liked a few but made a choice. A good one I might add. ;)

I'll tell you what! There are a lot of good choices in that poll at the moment. I can safely say that I like most of them. Not sure about Ten years after, I seem to recall the name, but can't think of any of their tracks.

ROCK band it has to be Led Zep.

Given that I would give house space to every one of the bands on the poll so far.

As Rolf says - it depends on your mood.

PS Wot - no Beatles?
