The Home Page is looking a bit "dated"

Evening all

Happened to take a look at the Home Page just now, and realised the above as there is nothing there that is newer than November 2018 - that might give the unfortunate impression to newcomers/people who find it by accident, that the site is "moribund", which, OF COURSE, it is not!

Thus might I suggest that it would be a good idea if the Staff could take a look at it and bring it somewhat more up-to-date.

It's not uncommon these days, am seeing many previously well maintained sites showing deserted \ outdated pages, their active and well established forums seemingly being the sole reason for continued existence of the domain.

imo, if one cannot keep up with presenting a constant flow of news \ equipment tests or whatever some visitor would expect, it's much better to not have a news section at all, just keep a collection of general info, articles etc to make the main page a landing \ presentation page advertising the forum.

It doesnt help that the staff interface for promoting articles on this iteration of the site software isnt particularly intuitive. In fact its downright crap .Ive added something this evening for the first time in ages and it doesnt look particularly good, Ive tried to undo it and as far as I can see theres no remove button! So it will have to stay...

Not withstanding my first post, that looks like a good reason for following 4wd's suggestion for a "generic" Home Page - but maybe including some outline info as to what the site is "all about".

Nevertheless, I also have a few reasons for "not liking" the site s/w works (or doesn't) - as I have mentioned on several occasions! - and so it sounds like some fundamental changes to the way that works might be in order.

Yes I completely agree I really need to set some time aside to sort the home page out. I think it would be best changing to a WordPress theme then linking to the forum pages.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Maybe in the interim, have the homepage set to direct to the forum? That way it'll go right to the hub of activity rather than to something that makes the site look quiet... :)
