Oh well, at least the joke won't be missed. ;)

A great shame though, I remember when I was 15, worked in the local Rover distributors in the stores, it was the time when they offered the "NEW" 3 litre coupe and the 2000 was just being launched, great cars, people were proud to own them and I was proud to have a part time job there.

It is a crying shame but over the years many an institution has bit the dust but not a lot of them got the same amount of press. It's like Index and Littlewoods, you cannot go on throwing good money after bad, Index lost 100 million every year, the company never was viable so why did they keep bank rolling it??? and paying those executives their fancy salaries for running a loss making organisation???

Funny thing about Rover, when the final bad news arrived I found that I hardly cared. They stopped being of interest to me years ago and they didn't have anything in their range of interest to me.

Which is all very strange as up to 10 years ago I was heavily involved in a company that sold spare parts for MG sports cars and other classic cars. I would never have believed that I could become so uninterested in its future.

Was it me or was it the crappy company? Possibly a bit of both.

Two pence worth...

sad to see Rover go but that may be down to market forces. Britain is losing industries by the dozen and who cares? I can name several French, German, Italian, etc car makers but no British, noe that's sad.

As for Index they may have lost money but I bet the kept Argos on their toes - now they're gone lets see what happens.

I believe in the 'pile them high, sell them cheap' business - just ask Ryanair, Lidl etc who's making the most money.

After being a true believer in Thus (Demon internet) I putting my money where my mouth is and bought (a lot) of shares.

I now learn they are closing their Scottish call centres and switching to India. No dis-respect to anyone from India but bye, bye Thus I hope other will follow if I don't support the British workforce who will?

IMHO

 Late again.

I thought about the jokes section, maybe if I did post there I would have seen it, but then I thought, it's not really much of a joke. Ok, the badge is humorous, but the collapse of MG Rover didn't really strike me as being funny. Why do the big chiefs always get those fu**ing big pay offs when something like this happens? I think it's a disgrace. They have been earning enough to have something to fall back on when this happens. It the work force that should be receiving a share of the fat cats payouts, they need it more.

Sorry, rant over.

I agree Kleefarr, there seems to be a career ceiling, above which there appears to be no penalty for failure, just pay offs.

Spot on Rolf
Shame on those miserable failures, the joke is they'll probably get re-employed elsewhere({}) ({})
