do you use something to cover lnb
Is there a difference In signal quality between two ports of lnb and do you use something to cover the unused port

No. The LNB comes in a cardboard box. "Out of the box" means the LNB was taken out of the cardboard box and is being used without any modifications.

sorry should have said unmodified as I have no need to mod the lnb to fit a c120 feedhorn.

as you have a large dish 1.8m it would be wise to mod a single black ultra and just try it if you can afford to do that.

has anyone contacted inverto to see if they have any plans to release the black ultra in a c120 variation as would it provide some competition to the invacom used in fringe areas ?

I modified Inverto Ultra single and tried on 1.8 prime focus http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...ack-ultra-flange-convertion-2.html#post979699

I have compared Inverto white tech single to Invacom QDF031 - result Is - Invacom Is significantly better In regards of Thor 5 at 1 W and Sirius 5 E scandinavian beams, but Inverto white tech wins on Astra 1H beam
I am In fringe zone for those beams and use dream 5620 which got very bad tuner

Is there any rule about not digging too old posts? I hope not...
Well, I made a conversion on a Smart Tit (3rd edition) TWIN. I bought 2 samples, one is still unmodified. I have a 180cm prime focus dish with specific C120 feedhorn. I have also near by a standard offset 110 cm to compare LNBFs (I have a lot of them...).

I should have compared the Smart Titanium TWIN with the single I have. I fact, the two samples of smart singles (also 3rd edition) give me outstanding results on the 110 cm offset dish. Even the Invacom was no match (test using only low band on ASTRA 2E /2F as this is fringe for me). Unfortunately I was so excited to do the C120 mod on the Smart Titanium TWIN that I did not compare it with the lot (prior to conversion). I should have!

So my issues are:
- My other sample of the smart twin ( still un-modded) gives me lousy (very lousy) results on the 110 cm dish. Even a 10 year Televes LNBF can beat it.
- However, the one that is converted is giving interesting results on the 180cm PF dish. A little better than the Invacom single I had before.
- I noticed on spectrum analyzer a very large spike on the low end of band from this Smart Twin. This seems leakage from the local oscillator of some kind. The other sample is the same.
- Nevertheless, no other smart titanium from the other 4 singles I have (2 3rd ed, 2 classic) present such high spike. This is filterable via a SAT + Terrestrial diplexer (not all diplexers are created equal, says the Spectrum Analyzer...) from Manata (MS-720).

So, my main doubt is this:
- Does anyone know if the Smart TWIN is significant worse than the single, or did I just have a bad luck on my 2nd sample?

If this thread is too old, please point me to a suitable one regarding LNBs, specially for Prime Focus antennas.

Regards,
SD

Hi all
I read the story and i never realize that the satelite signal is improving to modifed een high gain offset lnb, first i read the forum and later i try it for myself on my selfbuild primefocus jons 180 on my balcony in Beverwijk (Netherlands) just on the other side of the northsea ;)

I have good results and my signal is much more sensitive then when i use a invacom lnb.
The invacom is a good lnb but with a conversion gain of 50 db the weak signals are not strong enough to onlock the fringe signal so the better offset lnb do the dirty job for the invacom or inverto twin flange lnb who give just not enough signal. :-biglaugh

Earlier i had already have pursage a chinabrave primefocus lnb (and i never heard of clone lnb`s) and i replace the feedhorn on my mod offset inverto twin lnb and put it on my prime focus dish .. WOW what a improvement, the final touch is there after aligmend my jonsa
I have test also the inverto black twin lnb and the signal are a little better then the smart 2 de gen lnb. Tonight i have als cut a clone chinabrave lnb ( i have two of them) and replace the feedhorn to the Mti ap82xt2n lnb and later in the week i gonna test the imporving from the satelite signals.. ;)

Sorry for the delay. Too many things to do at same time...
I have the LNB in place, but as soon as I can I will show the details - maybe when I try a different feed. I already have here a Famaval feed to try out.
Mean while, here are some fotos of the antenna and feed setup. Maybe someone can tell me if this is a Marrafa or Famaval dish :). Remember, it is from 1992.

Hi Trust ;)
When i seach manuel with my dreambox 7020 Hd somtimes a earlier frequentie stay o the display but my test freq is 70,5 E 11.210 symbole 6509 H
Other question for Trust if it is possible to make a big adf 120 feedhorn for me so i can replace te standard on for the big one feedhorn to improve my signal ?

Question for users who has a technomate reciver the new series technomate are they all low treshold recievers compare with the tm 5302 Hd or are the new one more sensetiver with the new tuner ?
I ask that because the dr hd grand tripple has not the same sensetivity tuner as the dr hd f 15 (or f 16) and i thought they had all the same tuner because the sugestion was created to a german forum who talking about the dr hd Series.. So i purchase the grand trippel and the tuner is worse when i compare it with my dreambox 7020 Hd or my Clarctech 5100 Combo. They not working good for the fring sat dx signals..
