My Satellite Setup
80cm fixed dish
My Location
Lingfield, Surrey
I'm just north of Liverpool, have a 1m eliptical dish, sensitive LNB, quality cable.
I'm no expert at satellite installation so got an installer to point my dish at 1W for me. It all works fine for Thor II but on Thor III I can't get past 20 per cent signal quality. I would really like to improve the Thor III signal.
Is it right that Thor II and III are different satellites and my installer will have locked the dish into the stonger signal of Thor II, on which I get 80 per cent signal quality. If I aligned it to the weaker signal of Thor III, would it increase my chances of getting something off that satellite while maintaining an acceptable signal off Thor II?
If so, how much would I have to move the dish to lock in on Thor III? It is on a paving stone in the garden at the moment, so it would be easy to move it a short distance.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thor II and III are in the same place.

I would say your dish is not properly aligned.

My Satellite Setup
a variety of lnb's (5), dishes (2), diseqc motors (3) and receivers (4).
My Location
East of Cambridge (GB).
Just look at the foot prints of those two satellites on Lyngsat/TrackSat/King of Sat/Flysat/SatCoDX and you will see the reason for the differences in received levels.

T2 &3 are effectively co-located. Thor 3 is focussed much more tightly onto the nordic countries. To improve the signal you will need a bigger dish. Sirius 2 & 3 are the same - I can just get S3 here in south Scotland with a 1m dish.
