What's the best way of joining two lengths of RG6 coax?
I could terminate each piece with an f connector then connect them together with a barrel connector. But in effect this is two connections. Is there a better way......?

Good question, it's between a DiSEqC and a satellite receiver.

The loss would be in the region of 0.6 to about 1dB for a decent matched set of connectors, and so unless you are near the end of the sensitivity of the receivers tuner, you should not get any problems. Make sure however the electrical contact of outer and inner are good, preferably by scraping any crud off the inner connector circumference.

Needless to say it shold all be done in dry conditions and external work to be waterproofed after.
