Top Up TV, the 'pay-lite' digital terrestrial service that will broadcast in the UK as an add-on to the existing Freeview operration, has confirmed its launch day as March 31.

The service, heavily backed by a targeted advertising campaign starring a gnome - Little Top UP - will initially only be available to households with old ITV Digital boxes. Its 100-hannle package includes UK Gold, E4 and Turner Classic Movies for £7.99 (E11) a month.

Digital terrestrial viewers have been unable to access such channels since the since the collapse of ITV Digital in 2002. The BBC and Crown Castle backed Freeview offers some 30 free-to-air channels which can be viewed by anyone purchasing a compatible box, or those who still retain their ITV Digital boxes.
