No, this encryption is not as easy as the old one, plus there are probably very fiew people working on it as there isn't much incentive.

I think the only incentive is Television X but whats the point when theres a whole lot of proper mature content on satellite :D

Even though theres no kevlar around, would it not be possible to backup the subscription based smartcard (the one for 7.99 per month), and take the card to my parents and watch E4 on there old ondigital pioneer box?

Thus leaving my original subscribed smartcard at my own home ;)

No, you probably won't be able to read the card, let alone copy it.
