Hi, I want to buy a Topfield receiver.

I can find the 4000 model without HD at £238 or a 5000 with 80 GB HD for £524.
I’m working for a computer company that sells HD and I have plenty of them.
Also I don’t care to move the disk to my computer for copying movies.

DO you think it is worth to pay this price difference for the new model ?

Firstly look at the difference between the two. The 5000 can record 2 progam's while watching a third, it also has the USB2 port. I am not sure but I think it can also handle the new Aston 1.07 CAM correctly. The latter is something the 4000 cannot do which means that you cannot record to HD when using the Aston 1.07. I don't know where you are but in Holland the 5000 supports CanalDigitaal MediaHighway's EPG as far as I can tell (I have the 4000). The 5000 also lets you upload mp3's from a computer to its hard disk.

The 4000 will take hard disks up to 120GB, preferably one spinning at 5400rpm (lower hear and power consumption) with liquid bearings. Seagate are probably the best as they are nice and quite.

If you are not interested in computer connectivity then the 4000 would probably be the one to go for.

as you work for a PC company, you can get the 5000 pvr ready now without HDD, like papako says , get the seagate HDD and install it yourself to save a few quid
