Im totally new to this and basically just stumbled onto this web site, I did'nt even know you could still get channels ment for other countrys in uk. I thought it was all blocked years ago. Anyway i had sky digital and got it cut off not worth the money, All iv got is the freeview channels now.

Right so let me get this streight, I can buy one of these digital receivers and a dish and then be able to view channels from all round the world, even pay for view movie channels and xxx channels as long as i have the right cams and stuff, Is this correct?

Ok i want to be able to watch pay for view movies, if they are in english and as much hardcore xxx filth as possible, all for free. what set up do i need, what would be the best box to buy ect ect.

Bye the way i live in a high rise tower block and would be sticking the dish on my veranda, clamped onto the railings or something so im not sure i i could use a dish much bigger than a normal sky tv dish. would this be a problem?

cheers

Waoh - most of the movie and mature content channels are now secure. Theres a few open, but for how long is a matter of guesswork.

IF you decided to blow a few hundred quid on the equipment theres always the risk that you nice shiny expensive toys could be so much junk a few days later if the encryptions change.

Having said that, you can get some hard core stuff easily if you get a legit card (Dragon Cams can be had for 80 quid with a h/c XPlus subs thrown in.

As for channels from around the world, yes thats more than possible and many are free.- point a dish at Hotbird and you can be watching stuff from Korea, China, Vietnam, Colombia, Peru, Cuba etc.

are the legit of course they are;) ive havent got 1 but i have a couple of matrix cams witch work well,at the moment i have cabo, multivition, polsat, absat, plus more.xxx channels spi*ce pla*inuim, venus.but first mate in your high rise make sure you have a clear veiw of the sattelites you would like so make sure your veranda faces the right way.if your sky dish was on the veranda then your facing the right way as for size of dish i would opt for a 60-80 centemtre.preferly a 80 metre wich is not to big and in bad weather rain etc wont afect signal.then i would definitly go motorised, for the sake of 60 odd quid is well worth it.a widerspectrum.have been into sattelites for a couple of years, startedas a a newbieand with the advice from members on here and toecutters have installed my 1 metre dish and motor, and several other instlations for family and freinds, its a good hobby.and dont be afraid to ask questions, nobody is going to take the mick mate.we were all newbies once.

goodluck! stevo

Yes a Dragon cam and XPlus h/c sub is completely legit in the uk (unless you are stupid enough to tape the output and try to sell it of course). As Stevo says, if your balcony faces south eastish you are ok, if not, join the Blockbuster DVD scheme ;)

Yes thats a fairly simplified account of a fairly complex procedure but near enough - IF you have clear view out to the satellites you are interested in.

taking in to consideration what you said you wanted Hotbird has what you need you have some utter filth and around 10 movie channels so this could be achieved quite cheap with a fixed dish having said that you have little chance with a 45cm digi dish, the bigger the dish the more you get.
I would say at least 80cm dish have a look at this Item number: 5790529390 on ebay it wont break the bank and the world is you oyster...
Liike anologuest said you may buy it today and loose lots of channels tomoz, but if you want safety stick with sly.
ps get a dragon cam and your old free to view sly card will work with it if you have a motorised dish...

It's a way saying sky without giving even the least bit of publicity to them. I usually write it as $ly!

It's also rather apt I think! :D

I dont understand what mrminibus is saying then! What does he mean stick with sky and get a dragon cam and use your old sky card? The only sky iv got isa modern digi box with the sky world package card. Does he mean use the sky box? Im confused you have to spell things out to me in the simplest terms, I have no clue.

You can get a technomate 1500 CI on ebay fully patched for around £105, Does fully patched mean it can open up most channels without the need for cams and cards ect? And if the encrpytion changes and you loose most of your channels then you can simply get it repatched right? Or would i need to buy knew cams and cards for it? It claims you can watch pay for view english movie channels on hot bird ect.

Also which magazine is best for the newbi and has anyone got any links for any sites that would explain most of this to someone who you would assume to know nothing about it?

My veranda is ruffly in the same direction as all the old sky dishes ect on the building, with a clear veiw to the sky.

With the new generation of super cams (Dragon for starters) you can get your subscription services from Sky by sticking your subs card into the Dragon cam instead of using the Sky box.

NOTE: You need a valid subs card - no freebies available - and how long the situation will last is anyones guess - Its a fairly simple process for Sky to change an encrypotion algorithm and block out the Dragons again..

Hi radio...

Cheapest way to get what you want is to buy one of the Lidl comag sl55 receivers or older comag porty receivers..you can pick them up on e-bay...it's what im using at the moment with a motorised 85 cm dish..I can get all the major sats ie: hotbird..astra 1 & 2...hispasat...movies and mature content on both hisp and hotbrd...regular updates too for this receiver which are easy to upload to your box via a RS323 cable and your PC/laptop..
Cheers..
