Hi all,
I have a pc with a skystar 2 card. I can get BBC HD just fine using DVB vewier pro and the CyberLink Codecs, works a treat. I can't lift TPS Star or M6. I'm using vplug and M6 seems to be ok but not TPS Star, I have an invalid key error. No joy at all with Premier HD. Anybody got any pointers.

Thanks

What about coreavc, does it work with you? Besides that you should know that you can only receive DVB-S with a SS2.

Hi,
thanks for the update. I can see what your saying about the DVB-S with SS2. I'm running Microsoft Media center on my pc and I'm using DVBViewer. I use DVBViewer because I can run it with the remote. Vplug 1.5.8 seems a little unstable lately. I don't know if its because of my reception. I can't find Premier HD on a scan.
I find the Cyberlink HD264 drivers works well. I don't like the Corevac it seems unstable for me. Could you recommend a good DVB-S card with SS2.

Thanks

Whell I find that Altdvb is a better choice for weaker signals, perhaps you should give it a go just to check if its a sat viewer snag. As for the remote, you can use the SS2 (skystar2) remote using winlirc, but it can be a pain to setup correctly, I quit trying...
Vplug is ok most of the time, but I too am getting problems with it on altdvb, but on dreamdvb it works a lot better, seems a tiny bit faster to change and "open" channels aswell.
I suppose you are refering to a DVB-S2 aka HD card on your last sentence... I have no experience with them so i won't go into it. But one thing I know, for one of those DVB-S2 cards to work correctly you need a powerful pc with a nice graphics card to help demux h.264.

Requirements for HDTV [1080i / MPEG 4 (AVC/H.264)]
- 3,4 GHz P4 (Single Core with hyperthreading) or
- 2,2 GHz AMD 3500 + or
- Dual Core P4 D820 / D830 or
- Dual Core AMD X2 3800+
- with graphics card: ATI X1600 / X1800 er NVidia 6600 GT / 7600 GT

Tecnisat has a DVB-S2 card, if I get one it might be one of those.

Other brands have it as well and they seem to be pretty much the same hardware just a different badge, but i still have to check that a bit more.

Well M6 and TPS Star HD are encrypted in Viacess 2.5 anyway.

You are probably decoding M6 SD.

AND Premier HD is in DVB-S2 so no chance what so ever with a skystar 2.

Thanks for the info guys. I got my stability problems sorted by reading the help for DVBvewier. I have a dual core system and I flicked off the option to use the first processor. DVBVewier becomes unstable if you are using a SkyStar2 card. DVBVewier is now running rock solid. I like the DVBVewier because I can use my media center remote with it and the user interface is very good. I downloaded the dll for the remote from the DVBVewier forums site. My BBC HD is pretty good and my system runs at around 35-55%. Its still a tiny bit gerky and have the feeling that its not the system but the skystar2 card. I think i'm going to upgrade to the technotrend card S2-3200. Thanks for all the help.
