Hi, I have triax 1.1 fixed dish. tm1500ci, fed up moving it manually especially when its piddling.[footy] When I read posts about motors, there always seems to be a choice of answers. Do I go triax H to H 36v V box etc. or stab type which would be cheaper.. but may not last. Are there any triax users out there. Quite windy here although patio pole mounted. thanks.

Could use a Stab HH120, but 36 volt would be better.
You get what you pay for !!! ;)

We go round this loop many times (...a week probably).

Actually, the answer is always the same. Most 'high end' (LOL) DiSEqC motors are rated up to 1.2m dish capable. That's the manufacturers' recommended upper limit. Go over it, and you're pushing your luck. Stay well under it and you're probably OK. The closer you get to the limit the more likely it is that the motor will suffer loading detrimental to its continued trouble-free operation. That's what it says on the box.

Sheltering it will reduce the load and therefore the risk. Stick it above the roofline in a windy area and watch it self destruct PDQ.

36V systems are generally stronger and more powerful, but more expensive.

You need to apply you're own way of thinking to the above facts.

But before you torture yourself with the decision as to which route to take, check your bank account. If all you can afford is DiSEqC then the choice is DiSEqC.

Balance the various factors (location, wind-factor, cost, required longevity/reliability) then factor in the amount of risk you're comfortable with and make your choice.

See? It's easy! :p

Here is my triax 1.1 with pole and calibration helpers[white plastic marked with sat positions 1 bit on dish 1bit on pole] facing 13e on my patio weighted down with bits of concrete awaiting further attention... but upright. I think after reading your posts to go for the cheaper option. not a lot of money at the moment and I need a HD dvd recorder for footy.
Thanks all for your help

They are a great little motor, but I will say that the two i have seen with 1.1m dishes have both developed backlash. Have adjusted the backlash on one of them, it only remains to be seen how long the adjustment lasts. :)

There is on other I looked at stab hh120 this has a 3 year guarantee and will take up to 120cm dish
The sg2100 is on the very short list. I not sure why I bought such a big dish but it is quite sheltered.

I got about same question, should i get Polar Mount or 36V motor, SuperJack SMR-99G any good?

I heard many of motors have huge amount of play and dish vibrates on wind causing losing of satellite signal.

And frund m8 its called Moteck.

Either of those two will do nicely, but as you say the dish is a bit big for them.

Still, if it's sheltered then give it a go. The Moteck is cheap, but the STAB is about 50% more.

The stab 120 is about £60 If you've seen it cheaper give us a nod.
SatElite 2, If you do the jack arm way, you need H to H Mount, 12" Jackarm, V box to convert to 36v and 4 core cable [special screened 2+2 cable can be had from a well known superstore for satellite bits]It does work out b***dy dear the latter way.
And a big TAR to the helpes above

Arrived this morning 1015am and its dry outside. Bigger than I thought. Started putting it up light rain, set angles ooooh dish angle too high, piddling down, Fitted dish originally with pole to dish bracket upsidedown so I turned to hotbird and lowered the dish with the motor elevation adjustment untill tomorrow. Quite easy change bracket adjust elevation If its dry. And I want to go and watch Shrewsbury. How did I put the bracket wrong No instructions and nothing on line to help Triax etc.
