at the minute ive got a triax 1.1m dish up as my secondary dish and been reading different posts on other forums stating that the gibertini 1m will out perform the triax 1.1m ???

has anyone taken the plunge and swopped the triax 1.1m dish and put up a gibertini 1m dish up

any ideas ??

Can't comment directly but if you mean the TD110 then it isn't a 1.1m dish. Its dimensions of 105cm x 100cm mean that it's actually a 1m dish.

Triax - TD110 std RAL 7035, singlepack - Wing nut

If the Gibertini is a true 1m dish then I would imagine the results would be pretty similar and choice of which one would come down to VFM, i.e. price, longevity and ease of adjustment (something a Triax fails on).

An observation as I have only previously gone from a TD88 to a Gibertini 1M. I would think that because of the adjustment issues with the Triax, you would have a better chance of getting the Gibertini peaked to max, which in consequence may perform better than a Triax which is usually adjusted to a compromise when frustration ensues...

The differences will be marginal between the two in terms of performance. The Triax is a heavier dish, so will wear out a DiSEqC motor quicker than a Gibby. It also makes you wish that you were a mutant with 3 arms to handle the elevation adjustment, something that Gibby doesn't. Gibby every time for me....

Just a little input, from my own personal experiences having owned both dishes

I bought the Triax dish and had it mounted professionally with the intention of using just for 0.8w for certain channels when they were availble, it was used with an IBU (my lnb of choice always), i was left very underwhelmed by the performance of the dish

So, i went and bought the Gibtertini instead (having previously had a 1.25m which i was pleased with), the difference was like night and day for me, again using the IBU and in similar weather conditions there was a good 8% gain, which some may find unscientific and hard to believe but is the truth

On my satellite Journey i have bought many, many dishes, as some will know, i sold the Triax on privately a couple of weeks later as new at a loss

I still have the Gibertini now and use it for a different bird, but i would not swap it for anything of similar size

I hope these findings help and apologies that it is not the most scientific of feedback

If your TD110 is set up accurately (that's possibly a big if!) then I wouldn't bother with another 1m dish of any make. There just isn't any substantial advantage for the expenditure.

Your next move would be to a larger dish, maybe 1.2m if a 1.5m is too large.

Don't you like channel masters Steve ?.
I know I'm not Steve, but: Channel Masters always!
The rigidity of the plastic dish makes the CMs (and Prodelins and Laminas and Cahors etc) outstanding performers.
Only prob is that the CMs need a polar mount (or restored 1224), the others may mount on a motor, but needs to be kept it sheltered.
If you don't want to go the plastic way, I would say Gibby if for motor mounting.
But do consider the CM120 - there are always one or two on ebay...

Sten is right, it is better to look for used CM 1.2m. There are couple for sale nearby me, already long time... No wonder nobody is buying them- owners ask too much. But I have seen such antennas sold for quiet reasonable price.

Channel Masters always

That's what I always said to myself st1, but after messing about with the precision I am seriously thinking of getting an new 2.4 Elite/precision.

I would like to see what performs best with my 1.5 v 1.5 gib. I will be able to test soon when Steve gets one :D

It's sat there doing nothing but there is no motor for it. Some one beat me to the 1224 I had my eye on
