Looks like an inverted window lock key, where the square section is now on the outside and the centre hole is circular.

None of the usual locksmiths near here have this type, only the Cheney style ones.

The only other briefcase manufacturer (pictured) is on their annual break.

It's normally associated with BrooksBrothers stuff / Peal and Co though the case I have was made in Bond St, Brighton ( D.A. Friend ) that appears to have gone out of business a few years back, shop is now 'Collectif'.

You know me I am easily confused, from the photograph it seems you already have two keys are the ones shown not suitable?

Stock image of a briefcase with similar lock/key. I assume there might be some variation on the key design and material, but the case I have here is black leather with brass components, like this one.

If you got some brass tube from a model shop (or fleabay), would that be suitable to make one or is there more security involved?

Based on the stock image in the first post, I don't think there is anything special about the mechanism, just the fitment being square on the outside. I assume turning 1/4 or 1/2 locks/unlocks it

It looks like a bit of square section rod with a hole drilled into would open that no problem

I don't want to break anything, I'm looking for a replacement key.

The case is currently unlocked.20190501_082419.jpg
