T.N.T French/ English sat box via Astra 19.2
My Location
GUERNSEY C. I.
Does anyone have a French/English set top box? I live in Guernsey and have recently purchased a t.n.t. unit which operates from Astra 19.2 east and I am assured it does work, however despite a strong quality and strength signal (92 & 90 ) when I scan through I get a message saying channel found, when the scan is complete there is nothing there at all, my Sky unit works fine I may have a wrong setting!!! Can anyone help at all
Thanks.

Did you realign your dish to 19.2 east? Sky is pointing at 28.2 east, which is a complete different set of satellites.

Strong signal does not mean you're on the correct satellite since there are many satellites up there operating on the same frequencies. If your dish is still on 28.2 east, you would need to move it slightly up and left when standing in front of it. There's another satellite, 23.5 east, which you might hit first, so you'd need to go past that.

A cheap satellite meter/beeper will be very helpful.

Note also that realigning your dish for 19.2 will lose reception of the UK channels (Sky) at 28.2, you cannot view two satellite positions with a single standard lnb.

Thanks for your reply, I have not moved my dish yet, but I am told that it is not necessary, I will try on Astra 28 but the instructions clearly state Astra 19.2 east

TNT is not on Astra 28.2 - you won't succeed there without moving the dish.

As I use 1 dish for 28e (freesat) + 19e (French TNT + the fta germans etc) here at my cottage (in N), picture of example for 2 sats on one dish. 28 (weakest sat here) points to middle of dish, 19 offset towards right.

Don't know if your dish will work good for 2 sat use, but may be worth a try as both 28 & 19 should have very good signal levels in your area. Maybe put 28 slightly offset from center to left, and 19 towards right (seen from front) to find some working reception levels compromise.

Or if place permits it, keep the 28 as it is, and add an inexpensive (60 cm should do fine) dedicated dish for 19. That would be the best solution overall IMO.

Can you please post some details, of the channels you've managed to scan in, frequency, polarity, S/R, (Symbol Rate).
You can also check on web sites, like lyngsat.com, which list most of the channels, on each available satellite:
Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/
Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-1KR-1L-1M-1N.html

When moving your dish, from Astra 2, 28.2E, to Astra 1, 19.2E, you need to move it West, to the right, if standing behind the dish, about 10 degrees, also slightly adjusting the elevation, tilt of the dish, and finally very slightly altering the LNB skew, rotating the LNB, to maximise the signal quality.
Finding a new satellite is a lot easier if you use a satellite meter, even a very cheap one, that costs less than £10, and is available at some DIY stores.

As you've moved the dish westward from 28E, you'll need to raise the dish elevation slightly to optimise reception, and might also benefit from reducing the LNB skew a notch.

Edit: Snap!

There is two possitions for french TNT by sat, both need a viewing card sold with a dedicated receiver.

The two encryption system are are not compatible.

TNTSAT is on Astra @ 19.2°East and FRANSAT is on Eutelsat 5 WA @ 5°West.

I recommande FRANSAT who give a real HD signal and a better quality of service and the posibility to buy a CAM with card for your TV.

TNTSAT is affiliated to canal+ and this is just a solution for them to grab new clients to is pay tv.

Both have app for Android and Apple made to locate the good satellite.

Bis TV is a pay tv provider, you can't have the TNT channels without a subscription to one of is package.

About Sébastien Soriano inteview, the TNT that is talking about is the terestrial part not the satellite part.
This guy is push by mobile communication provider to give to them more and more frequency to mobile com to the detriment of terestrial TV.
it is not credible and is not based on anything real.
