TV Channels Changes in Israel

We have very few FTA TV channels in Israel, both terrestrial and from the Amos satellite.
Main channels KAN11, Ch 2 and Ch 10.
The video quality for all is just horrible and there is nothing really worth watching.
Ch 2 and Ch 10 have endless adverts.
Anyway, Ch 2 is going to split into two channels: Ch 12 and Ch 13
Ch 10 will change it's number to Ch 14
All this is going to happen tonight at midnight.
The good news is that the new Ch 12 and Ch 13 are going to have HD quality, whatever this means in terms of resolution.
I tried to scan my TV which has a DVB-T2 tuner, but I couldn't find the new channels.
Perhaps they are encrypted, otherwise how can they launch the channels tonight without testing them beforehand?
Also tried to scan Amos with the new channels supposed to be from 11,095 MHz, SR=11480, Horizontal
But nothing yet.
I tell my friends, don't get excited about the changes. We will get twice the rubbish we have today.

I would assume testing has been achieved in the small hours as of late, however there have been localised transmitter checks for about two years around the Tel-Aviv area.

Googling 'Idan' brings up the detail as follows, but my sandscript is a little rusty.

Approximate translation

Viewers should upgrade to the new converter before November 1 to receive the nine channels of Idan Plus, Channel 1 , Channel 12 , Channel 14 , Channel 14 , Channel 23 , Channel 33, Channel 24, Music and Channel 20. Some older converters will continue to receive some of the channels but there is no current information for how long.

A lot of viewers will be disappointed tonight at midnight, because the change will not upgrade the Idan+ channels to HD and we will continue to receive them in SD quality.
They ask to use a DVB-T2 receiver in order to receive the channels in HD quality, but at the same time they will continue to broadcast in SD. Weird!!!
The reason being a dispute over who is going to pay for the upgrade to HD. This can take weeks, months or years.
The Yes satellite company and Hot cable company will probably provide the new channels in HD quality.

Last night at midnight, the Idan+ channels changed their names to
Ch 12 Keshet
Ch 13 Reshet
Ch 14 10
Although their logos show HD, the broadcast is still SD.
The KAN11 HD test card started to broadcast in HD in addition to KAN 11 SD. So one good thing came out at last.
As for the satellite channels on Amos, I scanned at midnight TP 11,095 H SR=11480 and 3 new channels appeared.
The resolution has changed from 544 x 576 to 720 x 576 so there is a little improvement.
KAN11 HD is not available yet from Amos, only on terrestrial.
Here are few snapshots for the major channels from Amos

You can check this link under Europe beam
Amos 3/7 at 4.0°W - LyngSat
There are quite a few FTA channels from Ukraine.
Please report if you can pick any TPs FTA or encrypted with your dish.
The snapshots are from Amos (satellite).

The Middle East beam is very tight on er... Middle East. I think @nelson_b managed to get a couple of frequencies on his 2.4m Channel Master dish in UK.

The changes last night has made a lot of people unhappy because they discovered today that their DVB-T receiver doesn't open the new channels being transmitted in the new DVB-T2 system.
I have a portable 7" TV and I can only get these six channels in SD quality. It has DVB-T tuner.

KAN11
Ch 12 Keshet
Ch 13 Reshet
Ch 14 10
Ch 23
Ch 99 Knesset

Luckily for me, my Sony TV has a DVB-T2 tuner and I can watch all the added new channels as well:
KAN11 HD
Ch 24 Music
Ch 20 Moreshet
KAN 33 Arabic

Arabic speaking viewers must be quite disappointed because they have moved Ch 33 Arabic to the new DVB-T2, which means that they must buy a new receiver in order to watch this channel.
Fortunately this channel can still be watched FTA from Amos. See snapshot above.

In short, there are millions of crippled terrestrial receivers waiting to go to the nearest rubbish bins.
I bet this has happened in many other countries when a bad decision is taken and few years later they switch to a different system and voila, receivers are useless.

and we are too mid-west here ,so it seems!

funnily enough,on, 7°W,the channels that come in esasiest are the "MENA",or "Middle East" tagged ones
but only above 11000 for some reason, unknown to me
Same goes for 26°East
So there are different sizes of "Middle East"

Amos 7 is centred over the 'Eastern' Middle East and spreads its beams from beyond India on one side and down to central Africa on the other.

The Eutlsat bird at 7East can, by virtue of the beam pattern and orbital slot scatter signal further West (and North) to cover the majority of the Arabic speaking territories in North Africa, hence southern Europe is within range.

I believe the Eutelsat craft has provision to adjust the beam still further to cover more of the MENA areas by virtue of a shared power system on the craft, which adjusts according to the number of transponders that are active.

Why Keshet 12 HD and Reshet 13 HD are not present in Israeli DVB-T, just cable? Both Keshet and Reshet are already producing HD signal. It has no sense.

Like all countries there is limited bandwidth available for HD terrestrial channels and in Israel there is the added problem of transmitters swamping the signals from adjacent countries

we do get I-24 French & English, but they try sooo much to interfere & concentrate on OUR news ,rather than on life IN Israel... they look just like another france 24 or cnn,it'd be great to get something with a local scent
