First of all, I will review U2C denys h 265 only as the satellite receiver, so no iptv.... (anyhow not very interesting for western europe)

Good things:
- very easy to get Multistream and T2-mi, simply scan after define the frequency as t2-mi/multistream
- acceptable tuner sensitivity;
- very good video quality;
- Great epg on russian channels.
- NO UHD TVs, but you can get HD channels broadcasted in H265, with very few glitches (improve it).
- recordings from EPG and in a ts file that is ok for VLC.
- ok with motor
- price

Bad things:
- as big as an hand, I don't know if it will last and resist to intensive use.... who knows?
- only Plp: 0 for t2-mi

Anyhow, at this price, 50 euros, a lot of people could use it as a second decoder, but some things are needed to sell more than 10'000 items in Western Europe!!!

- english guide for all specific things of the receiver;
- No audio for DTS and Dolby Digital + (so no audio on French tv in multistream)
- Teletext only in latin character and not in russian!
- VERY VERY bad support for subtitle (no subtitles on HD tv, on russian tv, no subtitles on recordings....)

Only france 3 with subs.... what a pity!!!!

In conclusion, with an acceptable reception, you can get french tv, italian tv, russian tv, bulgarian tv FTA, but not spanish tv on 30 west.

Thanks
ciao

I've been following this receiver on Russian forums where there's a lot of feedback (good and bad) but TI2-MI is, like you say, very restricted. The smallest change will send it spiralling down...

At the moment, this receiver is for tinkerers rather than watchers, which I guess is what we are. There's nothing a much more fully featured (and a more expensive) Octagon can't do.

As much as impressive direct T2-MI reception is, bear in mind that the implementation is not 100% complete, all required parameters for both T2-MI and PLS/MIS are pre-stored in the firmware leading people to believe that the STB does something magic. Granted, T2-MI is miles easier to implement for direct reception and decapsulation. That is something that could have been done on E2 too but the development stopped at streaming.
However PLS scrambling is NOT a direct reception situation, no receiver can ever blindly find the PLS mode and code combination in a few seconds. They have these pre-stored in the firmware.
A true implementation would allow users to input all parameters manually, and this is not the case!
Combo is the hardest pls mode to achieve even the Silabs tuner on SF4008 seems not to support it.
Does anyone know what tuner U2C carries?

Hi dear Pierangelo!
as for subtitles: which channels you means? Please let us know, we will try fix it.
And as for Teletex - also, which channels you means?

Thank for your answer!

First of all, I have english as system language and not russian.... if it could help.

My dreams:

40 east - c band:

3615 R DVB-S2/8PSK MPEG-4 T2-MI 14990 3/44
PLP: 0
NTV (+2h) w F 1041 1042 Rus 1040
5 Kanal (+2h) w F 1051 1052 Rus 1050
Rossiya K (+2h) w F 1061 1062 Rus 1060
Karusel (+3h) w F 1081 1082 Rus 1080
TV Centr (+2h) w F 1101 1102 Rus 1100

3665 L DVB-S2/8PSK MPEG-4 T2-MI 14990 3/4
PLP: 0
NTV (0h) w F 1041 1042 Rus 1040
5 Kanal (0h) w F 1051 1052 Rus 1050
Rossiya K (0h) w F 1061 1062 Rus 1060
Karusel (0h) w F 1081 1082 Rus 1080
TV Centr (0h) w F 1101 1102 Rus 1100

3675 R DVB-S/MPEG-2 33483 7/8 C-band
5 Kanal (0h) w F 391 491 Rus 1
Rossiya 1 (0h) w F 513 660 Rus 2 BISS
Rossiya K (0h) w F 514 670 Rus 3
NTV (0h) w F 518 701 Rus 7

These channels usually have some programs - mainly series - with subtitles in dvb form or more often at page 888 of teletext,
I can get (watch and record) them with Enigma 2 - Golden media 990 - spark reloaded By Taapart or DVB smart and PC-card.
Moreover, there is the teletext in russian - Cyrillic fonts, BUT currently on U2c is only in latin.

5 west - Ku band

11509 H DVB-S2/8PSK MPEG-4 Multistream PLS: Gold/50416 29500 8/9

Multistream 1
France 2 w F 120 130 Fre 257
France 4 w F 320 330 Fre 260
France Ô w F 520 530 Fre 261

Multistream 4
M6 w F 120 130 Fre 1025
W9 w F 220 230 Fre 1026
Arte Français w F 320 330 Fre 1031
France 5 w F 420 430 Fre 1045

Multistream 6
TF-1 w F 120 130 Fre 1537
NRJ 12 w F 220 230 Fre 1538
TMC w F 620 630 Fre 1542
NT1 w F 520 530 Fre 1544
LCP w F 720 730 Fre 1546

All channels (but france 3 that is SD and has everything) are HD and there is no audio (dolby digital +) and subtitles even if almost all tv programs have them.

Thanks

Pierangelo

Dear,
if they implement russian subtitles and DD+ for french Tvs, it's enough to me..... ciao

;)
For simple consumer users of course any implementation that works should be more than enough. It's always easier to have these channels with no effort.
This was not my question though.
If this receiver provides a way for the users to manually input any new MIS/PLS data and can actually tune these, then it can get my attention. Until then, there is no magic trick to receiving these channels without the required data entered. They simply have these stored in the firmware leading people to believe that PLS reception is possible out of the gate. This is not the case here. Every time these parameters change the users need to flash an update and that's all!
Props to them for automating (partly) T2-MI but a good implementation should also provide a manual way to enter all data too (this is why no one can tune PLP 1, they didn't put that in their firmware).
DD+ and any audio support in STBs is hardware dependent. If their hardware does not support DD+ no software will with these specs at least.

The only action to do is select the frequency as t2-mi/multistream, nothing more.
Ciao

Yes, this is my point, same goes with PLS/MIS. Nothing is auto discovered, all is stored in the firmware.

After more days of use, T2-mi (not french multistream) has some - but few - video glitches - audio ok - ( please improve it).

Errata corrige:

- very easy to get T2-mi, simply scan after define the frequency as t2-mi
- able to watch Multistream if present in the firmware

Of course it won't find it, these new parameters are not embedded in the firmware.... they might add it on an update.

Here is no problem with software. DD+ need special CPU.
uClan Denys H.265 PRO+ have DD+ support, and STB can buy on market now...
