Sad indeed! Ed Bishop was the anonymous "American voice" in lots of Brit made sci fi type productions, not to mention many other things, and also a fine actor (I did manage to see him live, once!).

Billington not so well known, but still a "familiar face".

After these people pass away, we won't see their like again, it's the end of an era.

If you want a real "Omigod, not him as well" moment have a look at how many people from "The Prisoner" are no longer with us.

Very sobering.

Part of the success of Gerry Anderson's series was the amazing special effects (Dave Meddings), the 1st Thunderbirds episode still looks pretty good.

But another part of it was the actors' voices!

Ed bishop had an amazingly evocative voice, instantly suggesting "urbane cultured intelligence" (with a touch of world weariness), which eventually got him typecast (actors hate that, while welcoming the money!).

In a similar way, hearing Vincent Price instantly suggests "Gothic Horror, with a touch of Ham" (although, most people know who who Vincent Price was!).

Not specifically, a lot came from memory from when I was a member of the "Six of One" club some years ago. I was also looking at the IMDB.com web site a few months ago and if you put The Prisoner in the search engine and check on the biogs of each actor you'll soon find out.

A few names (all from memory); Leo McKern, Angelo Muscat (the butler), Peter Swanick (bald headed bloke with gold rim glasses in the control room) etc, the list goes on.

BTW wasn't it Derek Meddings who was SFX director on Thunderbirds et al?
