Nope, these are data transponders (continuous stream) that already exist since a year or so, and moved here a week ago.

Yep 100% official launch is August the 2nd with the charity shield cup game in UHD, although reports are saying the BT UHD receivers will not be avialable for install until the 4th. Deffo Broadband Only

Until Sky pull there finger out stop feeling sorry for themselves and get there UHD receiver to customers

Not that long ago I bought a new HD TV... Massive Sony TV. HD picture is great. So I assume that SKY will launch UHD on Sky Sports as competition to BT?? Does this mean that with a new Sky UHD receiver there will not be much difference...?
Or we have to buy yet more TVs?
The answer of course is YES. To get the best picture! That's how the TV industry keeps us purchasing!
Then I guess there will be an extra charge for UHD from SKY... £10 per month?? Blimey!!

I also bought a nice Sony TV a couple of years ago so I have no intention of buying another for a good few years! Since I have no interest in sport either I think it will be a long wait before anything in UHD comes along to interest me. I wouldn't be surprised if the next large TV I buy is actually 8K ready.

Just to be clear will any 4k TV play any of the 4k demo's etc from any satellite receiver ? I assume not because the standard HDMI connection from the sat receiver is not compatible for a 4k TV ?

Yes , if the receiver is 4k compatible , and there aren't many at the moment .

Not all TV tuner satellite 4K support 4K satellite demos.
Some 4K TVs have HDMI and USB compatible with 4K entries can play content in 4K for these tickets.
It's what they say in the characteristics / sales pitches.

If you are in the market for a 4K TV then please make sure that the HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant as this is now the standard for both Blu ray 4K players and also any 4K satellite receivers that will be released.

Stay well clear form any HDCP 2.0 standard

My Samsung can decode and play all HEVC/UHD content from sat. I don't have any 4k players that could be connected via HDMI. Recording via USB to a HDD doesn't work, dunno why not. But you can stream HEVC/UHD via UPnP. It only requires a simple network cable
