I am thinking about getting UPC Direct subscription, the channels are provided from Astra 1G and 1E. I live in Essex, this site shows http://www.parabola.cz/satelity.php?show=astra1g that I could use 50cm dish. Is that correct? Anyone else has any experience with UPC?

Many thanks for answering many of my newbie questions, I am trying to gather all information, so I can get my system when I go to Czech at Christmas.

Yes a 50cm dish would suffice, but 60 would be better. :)

A Zone2 Sky minidish would do the job well.

Thank you, that’s excellent news for me.

My aim is to be able to watch sky/sky+ and Czech channels and hide my dish as much as pos from my neighbours. If I could not install two dishes, could I have motorised sky minidish for the zone2 or 60cm transparent dish? What is the best option for me to move the dish? Does the motor/switch require another cable?

Upc gives away Philips DSX-6010 with its card, would this receiver be able to turn the dish?

Many thanks.

Is it possible to use sky minidish zone 2 with two LNBs? The prime set to Astra 1E and the second set for SKY, so I don’t have to use motor? Thanks

Ah, you didn't mention Sky+ in your first post, for both satellites, you would be better with a 70cm Raven Gemini dish with and Easterly satellites offset bracket, you could also then see Hotbird as well..

Sorry about that, I am after sky and Czech TV. I am absolutely positive my wife won’t let put on the property anything bigger then 60cm transparent or zone2 minidish. Will that work or do I need to motorise it.

Thanks for the answers and patience with me

You can watch the UPC channels here - http://grab.dkm.cz/ but the images update every minute or so.

A zone 2 minidish is close to 70cm anyway, bet you wouldn't tell the difference. :)

You can do it with a 60cm transparent dish, just not quite as well.

What matter is whether my wife and the neighbours can tell if it’s any bigger.

We have signed lease stating that we are not allowed any dish on the property, yet everyone has got minidish. Also the dish is very high so I don’t want to spend too much money having it installed, taken down etc.

If I could install two minidishes (one on each side of the property) would zone1 be good enough to get the Astra? Would very good LNB help?

Many thanks for the help

Yes, you would be able to get reasonable reception with a second minidish.
